NBA Power Rankings Betting Update: Suns With 6-Game Lead, 76ers Move Up

The All-Star Break is now in the rearview mirror, with the NBA returning to regular season action last Thursday night. Given that we had a week off and not a lot of games on the schedule after the return, you wouldn’t expect there to be a whole lot of changes in the latest NBA Power Rankings. That is indeed the case, but it is not the total status quo that we expected, as there is a change to the top 5. With all of that in mind, let’s take our weekly look at the top and bottom 5 in the NBA Power Rankings so you can bet against the NBA Betting Odds.

NBA Betting: Power Rankings Update for Week 20

Top 5

  1. Phoenix Suns – We are waiting to see the full impact of the Suns losing Chris Paul to injury for 6-8 weeks, but the early signs are not good, as they have currently lost 2 in a row. That said, they still have a 6-game lead atop the West.
  2. Memphis Grizzlies – The Grizzlies are still flying under the radar a little, but if they continue their current run of form, it won’t stay that way for long. They have won 8 of their last 10 and are now just 1 game out of 2nd in the West.
  3. Golden State Warriors – The Warriors looked like the team to beat in the early part of the season, but they are in a bit of a swoon at the moment, going just 5-5 over their last 10 games. They are now in danger of dropping further in the conference standings.
  4. Miami Heat – We have been waiting for someone to take control of the East since the start of the season and it now looks like the Bulls might be that team. They have won 4 in a row and now have a 2-game lead at the top.
  5. Philadelphia 76ers – Talk about a trade having an immediate impact. James Harden going to the 76ers for Ben Simmons looks like a good move for Philly in the early going, as they have now on 3 in a row to crack the top 5.

Bottom 5

  1. Indiana Pacers – The Indiana Pacers are sinking like a stone and seeing the play-in line get further and further away. The season looks to be all but over for them, and they are currently looking at a 2-8 record over the last 10 games.
  2. Oklahoma City Thunder – It has been a very similar story for the Thunder, who seem unable to get anything going at all this season. They also have only managed 2 wins out of their last 10, so don’t expect to see them leave the bottom 5 anytime soon.
  3. Detroit Pistons – For a while, it looked as though the Pistons were doomed to finish at the bottom of the rankings, but they have clawed their way out. Their record is still terrible, but they are actually coming off a win last time out.
  4. Houston Rockets – The question that has to be asker here is about how long the Rockets can stay out of the cellar. They are currently on an awful 9-game losing skid.
  5. Orlando Magic – This time next week, we might well see the Magic climb out of the cellar, assuming they can keep things going after winning 2 in a row.
