2016 March Madness ‘Bracket Buster’ Betting Picks to Avoid

Written by on March 15, 2016

There’s no other way to say it except to point out that avoiding dangerous matchups that could potentially bust your bracket before March Madness betting really gets rolling of the utmost importance. Having said that, I am highlighting four Round of 64 matchups that all have the look of bracket-busting games you might want to avoid at all costs. Ironically, each matchup features a No. 10 seed that has a very real chance of upsetting their seventh-seeded counterparts. With that said, let’s get started. Can All Four No. 10 Seeds Pull Off Upset?

2016 March Madness ‘Bracket Buster’ Picks to Avoid

South

No. 10 Temple vs. No. 7 Iowa -7 A whopping 66 percent of public bettors like Temple to cover the spread against Iowa and I say that’s easily the right call despite the fact that the Owls average almost 10 fewer points per game than the Hawkeyes. Temple has he slightly better defense in this affair and a winning ATS record (17-13 ATS), not to mention the fact that Iowa has compiled an absolutely pitiful 1-7 ATS mark over its last eight games.

West

No. 10 VCU -4 vs. No. 7 Oregon State VCU may be seeded 10th but they’re also favored to beat No. 7 Oregon State and for good reason. The Rams have the better offense and defense in this contest, not to mention the much deeper bench. With just one consistent scorer in Gary Payton II, the Oregon State Beavers will be hard-pressed to get the win here against a VCU ballclub that has gone 3-1 ATS over its last four.

East

No. 10 Pittsburgh vs. No. 7 Wisconsin -1.5 The Pittsburgh Panthers will have a legitimate chance at beating No. 7 Wisconsin when they square off because they have the better offense by about eight points per game and a defense that gives up just about three points per game more than the Badgers. Pittsburgh is completely desperate after losing three of their last four games, but it doesn’t bode well for Wisconsin that they got pounded by mediocre Nebraska 70-58 in the Big ten tournament the last time out!

Midwest

No. 10 Syracuse -1 vs. No. 7 Dayton Syracuse is the No. 10 seed, but they’re a slight favorite to beat Dayton and for good reason. While the Orange have lost three straight and five of their last six, Dayton is just 4-4 SU over their last eight games, not to mention the Flyers have a losing ATS record (13-17-1 ATS). Syracuse is completely desperate and has the big coaching edge with Jim Boeheim on their bench.
