It’s still very early in conference play, but there is already an intriguing little battle taking place at the top of the SEC. Kentucky are, as always, right in the thick of the ncaa basketball point spreads action, but they have both the Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks breathing down their neck. All three of those teams are as yet unbeaten in conference play, but that will change on Tuesday night, as Florida will be taking a trip to South Carolina for a game that will shake things up a bit at the top of the conference. While their records may be very similar, the way in which these two teams approach the game is a little different. Florida play an open style that tends to lead to a lot of scoring, while the Gamecocks get their wins by playing it tight in their own end, which is why their PPG allowed is in the top 10 in the nation. It’s a pretty full schedule on Wednesday night, but this is one game that should certainly be on your viewing calendar.

Why bet on the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are coming into this one on a hot streak, reeling off 7 straight wins after dropping back to back games at the tail end of last year. They have been especially solid on the road, going 3-1 away from home so far this season. Where things get a little tricky for the Gators is their performance against other ranked teams. They have played a pair of teams in the top 25 this season, and ended up losing both of them. The upside here is that they have beaten the Gamecocks in 7 of their last 10 meetings, but it should also be noted that they lost their last encounter versus SC, which snapped a 7-game win streak against the Cocks.

Why bet on the South Carolina Gamecocks

This is arguably the biggest test that the Gamecocks will have faced this season, as it will be the first time that they will have faced a ranked opponent. As mentioned earlier, they snapped a 7-game losing skid versus the Gators last season when winning in their own building, and they will certainly make it tough on Florida again this year, as SC has a 9-2 record at home this season. If they ae to win this one, they are going to have to be at their very best on the defensive side of the court, which is something they really haven’t had any problems doing so far, surrendering just 59.8 PPG so far.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The last two games between the Gators and Gamecocks have been tight, but I think this one might be a little more lopsided. I am going with South Carolina for the win, and I think it will be by a double-digit margin.
