NCAAB 2021 Top Games to Watch from Jan. 15th – 16th

Written by on January 15, 2021

While we continue to see disruptions and cancellations in college basketball, there are still plenty of games going on this weekend. It has been, in many ways, a rather strange sort of season already, but we are seeing the cream rise to the top, as well as some dark horses who might well have the potential to make some noise once the tournament rolls around. The majority of the must watch games fall on Saturday, as we have a trio of games that featured ranked teams going against one another. We also have an interesting one on Friday night, which is where we will begin. Let’s get right to it so you can get all set to make your bets against their College Basketball odds.

NCAA Basketball Top Games to Watch This Weekend

Wisconsin Badgers at Rutgers Scarlet Knights – Friday

Wisconsin came into this week ranked in the #9 spot, but they are almost certainly going to slide a little when the next rankings come out. Just how far they fall will depend on the outcome of this game. Wisconsin was blown out by the inbeaten Michigan Wolverines earlier in the week, a loss that will not have them slipping too far. That said, they still need to get a win against a slumping Rutgers team to get some of their mojo back. The Scarlet Knights have lost 3 in a row and have struggled in Big Ten play. This looks like the perfect matchup for Wisconsin, but might Rutgers be getting them at just the right time?

Ohio State Buckeyes at Illinois Fighting Illini – Saturday

As it stands at the moment, Michigan is running away with things in the Big Ten, but there is still a lot of basketball to play and a bigger picture to pay attention to. The Ohio State Buckeyes are creeping up the top 25 right now, coming into this week sitting at #21. A win over Northwestern this week will help their progress, but a road win against #14 ranked Illinois will certainly vault them up the rankings. Illinois needs a bounce back win after losing to Maryland their last game out, which dropped them to 5-2 in conference play. Both teams need this one for different reasons, which makes it a great matchup.

Michigan Wolverines at Minnesota Golden Gophers – Saturday

As we mentioned a couple of times already, the Michigan Wolverines are on a roll this season, going 11-0 to get the ball rolling. Despite that great start to the season, they are still sitting at #7 in the rankings, but they will almost certainly climb higher with a win here. They already toppled a ranked Wisconsin team earlier this week and can take another ranked scalp with a win on the road at Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are on the slide and need a win here to prevent themselves from falling out of the top 25.

Baylor Bears at Texas Tech Red Raiders – Saturday

The #2 ranked Baylor Bears are off to a perfect 11-0 start to the season, but they are going to have a difficult time keeping that streak alive on Saturday. They will be on the road to face a Texas Tech team that is sure to still be buzzing after beating the Texas Longhorns earlier in the week. They have now won 3 in a row and are sitting third in the Big 12 behind Baylor and Texas. If they want to win the regular season conference crown, they need to take advantage of home court and get the win on Saturday night.
