2019 NCAA Basketball Title Contenders You Shouldn't Write Off Yet.

Contenders You Shouldn’t Write Off from the 2019 NCAAB Championship Race

Written by on February 15, 2019

Over the course of the college basketball season, we can expect every team to have some ups and downs. This is the stage of the season where those downs very often look worse than they are, as the feeling is that going in a losing streak now is a sign that a team is going to struggle once March Madness begins. We very often have teams see their stock fall after a couple of losses, but should they really be written off? We have picked out 4 teams that NCAAB Betting enthusiasts are starting to avoid, but who just might be able to put together a deep run.

Contenders You Shouldn’t Write Off from the 2019 NCAAB Championship Race

#11 Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans saw their stock fall quite rapidly after losing 3 straight games, all against unranked opponents, but they are looking as though that run is behind them.

They have now on back to back games, including a nice win over ranked Wisconsin, and they are now once again tied with Michigan at the top of the Big Ten Conference. The Spartans are 5-1 SU against ranked opponents this season, with that sole loss coming back in the opening game of the season against Kansas. Do not overlook this team.

#14 Kansas Jayhawks

The #1 ranked Tennessee Volunteers have only dropped one game this season, with that loss coming at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas is currently sitting at 18-6 on the season, but what makes them so dangerous is that they seem to raise their game when they go head to head against good teams.

Overall this season, they have played 9 games against ranked opposition, going 7-2 SU in those match-ups. The Jayhawks are more than good enough to hang with the best, which makes them a very dangerous proposition in the tournament.

#17 Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles are a good example of a team that appears to have survived their rough patch and turned things around. After going through a stretch where they lost 3 out of 4, the Seminoles have reeled off 6 straight wins, including a big one over ranked Louisville Cardinals.

Don't write off the Seminoles from the 2019 NCAA Basketball Championship race.

That reversal of fortunes has seen the Seminoles rise up 5 spots over the last couple of weeks, with another slight move up the national rankings possible if they close out this week with a win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. It also appears as though this team is waking up offensively, as they now have 3-straight games of 80+ points.

#22 Virginia Tech Hokies

We will probably get a better idea of where this team is really at in the final few weeks of the season, as they have Virginia, Duke, and Florida State still to come.

If they can win a couple of those games, they might just get their mojo back a little once the tournament begins. The one thing that is a real positive for this team is that they are in the top 10 in points allowed per game. If you are solid on the defensive side of the court, you always have a shot at winning games and making a deep run.
