Coronavirus (COVID-19) NCAAB Update – Feb. 15th Edition

After weekends full of college basketball action, Mondays are the days where we tend to see the least amount of college basketball action. With only 13 Division 1 games on the docket, this will be considered a “slow” day. There were originally 16 games on Monday’s schedule, but unfortunately, we’re still having games affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s take a closer look at the latest NCAAB news out there so you can continue betting against their College Basketball odds.

NCAA Basketball COVID-19 Update – February 15th Edition

One game that has been postponed would have been the top game of the night, as the #2 Baylor Bears were scheduled to travel to Morgantown, West Virginia to take on Bob Huggins and his Mountaineers. Baylor has had to postpone or cancel numerous games this season due to coronavirus issues within their program. Baylor is one of the favorites to win the National Championship, so having games postponed this late in the season and not being able to do normal basketball activities could cause some issues for them in their chase for a national title.

There will only be three ranked teams in action on Monday night, and two of those teams will be facing each other, as the #9 Virginia Cavaliers travel to Tallahassee to take on the #17 Florida State Seminoles. Virginia rode their patented pack line defense to take care of the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday, while the Seminoles beat Georgia Tech in overtime in their last game.

Virginia is currently sitting atop the ACC standings. They’re 15-3 overall, and have only suffered one loss within the ACC. This will be the first meeting of the season between these two. This game with match strength vs. strength, as the vaunted Virginia defense will go up against the high-powered offense of Florida State.

Florida State isn’t far behind Virginia in the ACC standings, sitting two games behind the Cavaliers. A win at home would move them to within one game of the conference leaders. Florida State’s offense can put up points in bunches. They have the more athletic roster, and have the scorers to give Virginia’s defense some issues.

Virginia will put their 11-1 ACC record on the line, using their great defense and their proficient offense to try to slow the Seminoles down. Florida State is averaging over 78 points per game, so Virginia’s defense will have some issues to deal with. Being at home could give Florida State a big advantage in this one.

In the only other game of the evening involving a ranked team, the #7 Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to take on the TCU Horned Frogs. The Red Raiders are coming off of a tough loss at the hands of the West Virginia Mountaineers. TCU played a tough matchup against the Texas Longhorns, and came up on the short end of the stick.

Monday night’s game will be the first game of a back-to-back set between these two. Even though Texas Tech is rated seventh in the country, they’re sitting in sixth place in the Big 12 with a 5-4 record. If they want to move up the conference standings and earn a better seed in the Big 12 tournament, they’ll need to step things up with only five conference games remaining.
