Coronavirus (COVID-19) NCAAB Update – March 22nd Edition

The first weekend of the 2021 NCAA Tournament was filled with upsets. The first round saw numerous upsets including the 15th seeded Oral Roberts University upsetting the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes in the South Region. Another big upset saw the #3 seed in the East, the Texas Longhorns, lose to another Texas school, the 14 seed, Abilene Christian. We also so two #4 seeds go down, as Virginia lost to Ohio, and Purdue lost to North Texas. All in all, there were nine upsets in the first round of the “Big Dance”. Let’s have a look to our latest NCAAB news update so you can continue betting against their College Basketball odds.

NCAA Basketball COVID-19 Update – March 22nd Edition

The round of 32 started off with a big bang, as the day tipped off with a huge upset. The #1 seed in the Midwest, the Illinois Fighting Illini, were stunned by the #8 seed, the Loyola Ramblers. Porter Moser’s squad outplayed the Illini in every facet of the game, and the legend of Sister Jean carried on. Illinois was one of the favorites to cut down the nets in this year’s tournament. They came into the tournament on a roll, but Loyola’s Princeton offense and their suffocating defense was too much for Illinois.

Sunday’s action also saw two other big upsets, as Oral Roberts kept their Cinderella story alive, as they came from behind to upset the Florida Gators. Oregon State also stayed hot after winning the Pac 12 tournament. They defeated another favorite to advance out of the Midwest, the Oklahoma State Cowboys. As it sits now, many are predicting that Loyola will meet Houston for the right to advance to the Final 4. There’s a lot of basketball left before that may come to fruition.

As for teams that have already advanced to the Sweet 16, we’re looking forward to some of the weekend’s matchups. The Baylor Bears, the top seeded team in the South, will take on the #5 Villanova Wildcats. Even though Villanova will be without one of their top players in Connor Gillespie, Jay Wright will have his squad ready. Wright is one of the top coaches in the game, and Scott Drew and his Baylor Bears know that they’re in for a battle.

Another matchup to look forward to will see the Houston Cougars, the #2 seed in the Midwest, take on Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse Orange and their vaunted 2-3 zone. Houston shot terribly in their come-from-behind win over Rutgers. If they want to defeat Syracuse, they’ll need to shoot better from the outside. Buddy Boeheim is playing as well as anyone in the tournament. Houston will need to limit Boeheim’s shots from the perimeter if they want to move on. This one will see a contrast in styles and should be fun to watch.
