The 2019 college basketball National Championship Game was one of the best that we have seen in a while, with the Virginia Cavaliers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders going to OT to settle things. It was the Cavaliers who eventually came out on top to totally put to rest their stunning exit from last season’s tournament.
While it has been less than 24 hours since the Virginia players cut down the nets, the bookies have wasted no time in delivering their odds for the 2020 tournament. These odds will off course change as players announce their decisions to head to the NBA draft, but it’s still fun to take a look at the early betting, so let’s get right to it.
Early 2020 College Basketball Championship Odds – April 9th

Virginia Cavaliers
- 2020 College Basketball Championship: 5-1
Still, the Cavaliers are deserving of the top spot for now after totally redeeming themselves this year. They went out in the opening round last season and spent all of the 2019 tournament hearing about that, so kudos to them for rising above it and handling the pressure.
Duke Blue Devils
- 2020 College Basketball Championship: 8-1
The reason that they were such a strong favorite this year was because of the presence of Zion Williamson, but the big man will be a one and done player after declaring for the NBA draft. As the Blue Devils have proven over the years, though, they are always able to reload and deliver a great team year after year. They will certainly be strong again in 2020.
Kentucky Wildcats
- 2020 College Basketball Championship: 8-1

Kentucky went into the 2019 tournament as a #2 seed, making it all the way to the Elite 8 before falling to Auburn. This is a team that frequently makes a deep run in the tournament, so look for them to come back even stronger in 202 as they look to go a little bit further than they did this time around.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
- 2020 College Basketball Championship: 10-1
The Bulldogs went into this year’s tournament as a #1 seed and looked strong all the way to the Elite 8. That is where they ran into the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the team that went on to the National Championship Game before losing to Virginia. The Bulldogs are currently sitting at 10-1.
