March Madness Round of 64 Expert Betting Picks

Written by on March 15, 2016

We’ve all been taught that there is nothing guaranteed in life and that’s undeniably true – to a certain extent. You see, some things in life are absolute ‘locks’ like Big Ben chiming on the hour, meteorologists all over the globe being wrong on their weather predictions about 90 percent of the time – and early round March Madness odds lock alert specials that feature one national title-contending team matched up against an inferior opponent that likely shouldn’t even be taking the floor against their more talented counterparts. Such is the case with the three expert March Madness round of 64 picks that you’re about to get! You see, each of the three following expert picks have the look of virtual locks that have a high chance of cashing in once the 2016 NCAA tournament gets underway on Thursday night. With all of that said, let’s rock and roll.

March Madness Round of 64 Expert Betting Picks

No. 3 Texas A&M -12.5 over No. 14 Wisconsin-Green Bay

Analysis: If you don’t know, the Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix (23-12 SU, 19-10-3 ATS) are one of the best offensive teams in the nation as they average a whopping 84.2 points per game. Unfortunately, the upstart national title hopefuls are almost as lousy defensively as they give up a whopping 79.7 points per game defensively. Green Bay’s lack of defense is the main reason why 56 percent of the betting public likes Texas A&M (26-8 SU, 15-12-2 ATS) to get the win and cover the spread. The Aggies had their eight-game winning streak snapped in their narrow 82-77 overtime loss against Kentucky in the SEC title game on Sunday, but all that does is lead me to believe that the Aggies are going to put an even bigger pounding on Green Bay in this contest. Besides scoring and offensive rebounding, the Aggies have the edge in every single statistical category over Wisconsin-Green Bay. Texas A&M star Daniel House will be the best player on the court by far and he’ll lead the Aggies to the win and ATS cover. The Pick: Texas A&M 84 Green Bay 70

No. 4 California -7.5 over No. 13 Hawaii

When: March 18, 3:00 PM Where: Spokane Arena Analysis: No. 13 Hawaii (27-5 SU, 14-12 ATS) has won three straight and four of their last five games overall, but the Warriors’ season will be coming to an abrupt end when they take on No. 4 seed California (23-10 SU, 18-14-1 ATS) on Friday night. Analytics-based web sites have given Cal a whopping 86 percent chance of winning in this matchup and it’s easy to see why despite Hawaii’s recent eye-opening play. The Warriors have won three straight and five of their last six games and eight of their last 10 games overall, but California is the easy pick here for me seeing as how they’ve won eight of their last 10 games with their only losses being a pair of identical 3-point defeats against nationally-ranked Utah and Arizona. Cal has held six of their last seven opponents to 68 points or less and eight of their last 10 foes overall. Bears senior shooting guard Tyrone Wallace will likely be the best player on the floor for either team and I expect Cal’s stingy defense to lead them to the win. The Pick: California 75 Hawaii 66

No. 5 Maryland -9.5 over No. 12 South Dakota State

When: March 18, 5:30 PM Where: Spokane Arena Analysis: You may not know much about the South Dakota State (26-7 SU, 16-13 ATS) but you should know that the Jackrabbits have won six straight games and seven of their last eight overall. Unfortunately, they’ve also gone just 1-3 ATS over their last four games. The Maryland Terrapins (25-8 SU, 15-15-2 ATS) have an elite talent base and one of college basketball’s best closers in Melo Trimble, but the Terps are also wildly inconsistent on occasion. Still, the Terrapins are the kind of team that can beat any team in the nation on any given day. Maryland is just 2-2 SU over their last four games and 5-5 over their last 10 games, but they’re also 3-1 ATS over their last four games. Maryland’s heartbreaking 64-61 loss against Michigan State in the Big Ten conference tourney actually leads me to believe the Terps could make a deep run. No matter how you look at it, with a fantastic 79 percent chance to get the win and bring home the bacon, the Terps are the easy pick to win and cash in! The Pick: Maryland 81 South Dakota State 70
