The Bluejays (3-0) crushed Kennesaw State 93-58 on Friday in their most recent game. Six Bluejays scored in double-figures, led by 14 each from freshman Ryan Kalkbrenner and Preseason Big East Player of the Year Marcus Zegarowski. Damien Jefferson added 13 points, Christian Bishop and Shereef Mitchell added 11 and Mitch Ballock chipped in with 10.Creighton fell behind 8-6 after four minutes before a game-changing 19-2 run put the hosts in control. The flurry started with four straight baskets from Kalkbrenner, which included three dunks and an alley-oop lob. Kalkbrenner’s contributions were part of a 41-10 edge in bench points for the Bluejays, and a 50-28 lead in the paint.
The Bluejays opened the second half with a 20-7 burst and the lead remained 27 or larger throughout the final 20 minutes. Creighton shot 55.7 percent from the field (34-61) and made 18-of-21 free throws. The Bluejays also won the rebound battle 38-31 and had 15 assists against just seven turnovers.
Despite only averaging about 18 minutes per game this season, Bishop is leading Creighton in scoring with 15 points per game. Nearly all of Bishop’s points come from the paint or the free throw line. His field goal percentage is sitting at 81 percent, and he’s hitting over 90 percent of his free throws so far.
Creighton has won its first three games for the eighth time in 11 seasons under Greg McDermott. The school has started with three straight double-figure victories for the first time since 2012-13. Creighton has won 15 straight games when five or more players score in double-figures.

Tuesday will be just the second time in program history that both Creighton and its opponent have been ranked in the Top 10, joining a Dec. 31, 2016 game between No. 1 Villanova and No. 10 Creighton. CU has won five of its last six games against Top-10 competition, including the last four. Creighton is 123-46 all-time as a ranked team, including an 89-34 mark under McDermott.

Additionally, Wilson’s 15 rebounds and 11 defensive rebounds were the most by a Jayhawk this season.
Tyon Grant-Foster set Kansas career highs in minutes, points, rebounds, blocks and steals. The junior transfer from Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) played 21 minutes, scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds, blocked two shots and swiped a pair of steals.
It was KU’s 10th straight home win and improved Kansas KU to 803-114 all-time in Allen Fieldhouse, including 266-14 under head coach Bill Self. There will be about 2,500 fans allowed for Tuesday’s game at Allen Fieldhouse.
Kansas has been ranked in each of the last 223 Associated Press polls dating back to 2008-09. The 223-consecutive weeks in the AP poll is an all-time record, surpassing UCLA’s 221 from 1966-80. KU holds the same streak in the coaches’ poll at 229.
