Updated 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds – February 8th Edition

Written by on February 8, 2018

Every X marked on the calendar brings us one step closer to the magic that is March Madness. It is the time of year when even the most casual bettor creates a bankroll and plays, and it might be fair to suggest that choosing a winner this year is tougher than most. While a few teams have shown that they might well have what it takes to become the college basketball national champion, almost all of them have also shown that they are susceptible to losing to a lesser opponent. The NCAA Basketball championship odds seem to be changing on a daily basis, but let’s take a look at the current favorites and the odds you can get them at if you wager today.

Updated 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds – February 8th Edition

Michigan State Spartans

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +400
Currently ranked at #4 in the nation, the 23-3 Michigan State Spartans are considered one of the favorites to win it all because of the balance they bring to the court. Of the losses they have taken this season, 2 have been to conference foes, while the other came early in the season to a Duke team that was ranked #1 at that point.

Villanova Wildcats

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +400
The question that needs to be asked now is whether Villanova will see their stock drop after a stunning loss to St. John’s Red Storm. They are almost certainly going to lose their #1 ranking when the new standings are released next week, but let’s not forget that this is still a team with a 22-2 record and one of the best offenses in the country. We perhaps should not get too carried away by one loss.

Virginia Cavaliers

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +500
Unless they drop a game over the weekend, the Virginia Cavaliers are going to be your new #1 in the country. That has proven to be a tough spot for the other teams that have made it there this season, as it is usually followed by an unexpected loss. At 22-1 and boasting the best defensive numbers in the country, the Cavaliers look like a solid championship bet.

Duke Blue Devils

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +400
Duke dropped all the way down to #9 after an unexpected loss to St. John’s, but are still in possession of one of the best offensive records in the country. They also have a coach who knows how to get his team to play their best when March Madness begins. This is a team that always seems to come to life in the tournament, so always a good bet.

Purdue Boilermakers

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +650
Purdue is ranked #3 right now, but a loss to Ohio State in their last outing is probably going to see them fall a little. The Boilermakers are still a solid 22-3 right now and had won 19 games in a row before taking that loss to the Buckeyes. Purdue has pretty good NCAAB Championship Odds. Losing now may not necessarily be a bad thing, as it will help wake them up again ahead of the tournament.

Arizona Wildcats

  • 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +1000
The Wildcats are down at #13 with a 19-5 record, and while that is not particularly great when compared to the others on this list, it is still good enough to put Arizona at the top of the PAC 12 standings. This is a team with a solid offensive output, so they could well prove to be dangerous when the tournament begins.

Pretenders

  • Kansas: +1000
  • Kentucky: +1600
  • Oklahoma: +1600
  • Florida: +2000
  • Noth Carolina: +2500
  • Texas Tech: +2500
  • Gonzaga: +3000
  • Tennessee: +4000
  • Seton Hall: +5000
  • St. Mary’s: +5000
