2016 NFL Week 2 Expert Picks

Once the NFL gets the new season underway, which is a lot closer than some of you may be aware of, we will be looking at individual match-ups a whole lot closer. For now, though, we want to do a little bit of crystal ball gazing and look at each week of the season as a whole. We had Week 1 picks up yesterday, so now let’s take a quick look at Week 2 of the NFL season. Of course, the NFL betting picks that I have here may change once the season begins and other factors come into play.

Jets at Bills

These are a pair of teams that have a chance to take a step forward this season, and I actually look at them as being very similar in a lot of ways. Home edge goes to the Buffalo Bills , although I see this being a close one on Thursday night.

49ers at Panthers

Carolina developed a reputation as an unbeatable team at home last season, and that should certainly carry over here against a 49ers team that has the potential to be awful.

Cowboys at Redskins

Always a good divisional match-up, and one that usually comes with some fireworks. Can Kirk Cousins play as well as he did last season? If he can, the Redskins may be on to the win at home.

Bengals at Steelers

This should be the two teams who are battling it out for AFC North supremacy, and my guess is that they will split the season series. Give the edge to the Steelers at Heinz Field.

Saints at Giants

These are a pair of teams who might just have the ability to surprise some folks this season. I think the Giants have a few more weapons, though, so you have to take them at home.

Dolphins at Patriots

If everything stays as it is at the moment, the Patriots will once again be without Tom Brady for the second straight week. This is still a team that is tough to beat at Gillette Stadium, and they still have Belichick on the sidelines. Patriots win a close one.

Chiefs at Texans

A pair of teams that could well be among the top defensive units in the league. The Texans may have a little more to offer offensively, so they get the slight edge here.

Titans at Lions

It’s fair to say that both of these teams are in a bit of a transition phase right now, and it’s tough to know what to expect from either until the season begins. I see this as a chance for Tennessee to pick up an early road win.

Ravens at Browns

It was a down year for Baltimore last season, and while I don’t think they are going to rebound in a huge way, they should still be better, and certainly good enough to beat the Cleveland Browns.

Seahawks at Rams

This will be the first game back in LA for the Rams, and it’s sure to be an emotional homecoming. Will that excitement be enough to get them past the Seahawks? I’m not so sure.

Buccaneers at Cardinals

Arizona are a nicely balanced team on both sides of the ball, and they should be altogether too much for Tampa. Comfortable win for the Cards here.

Jaguars at Chargers

Jacksonville has a chance to be very respectable this season, and they can prove that with a big win on the road. I see this as a high-scoring game that really could go either way.

Falcons at Raiders

There is a definite sense that respectability is about to return to Oakland, and what better way to prove it than by winning at home against a Falcons teams that is probably going to struggle to hit .500 this season.

Colts at Broncos

Quite possibly the best match-up of Week 2, and one that is tough to call. If the Broncos defense can play as well as it did last season, this could prove to be a long, frustrating day for Andrew Luck and co.

Packers at Vikings

A great divisional match-up is on tap for the Sunday night game, and I think we are going to see Aaron Rodgers put on a show in primetime.

Eagles at Bears

The Monday night game in Week 2 features a pair of teams who need a good season after last year’s disappointment. Neither one is highly regarded in the Super Bowl odds, but they can perhaps improve their lot by getting off to a strong start.
