Which team deserves a longer look to win the AFC? The Chiefs at +200? Or, the Ravens at -125?

The Ravens field the most electrifying offense in the NFL. They base it around the best dual-quarterback in league history, Lamar Jackson. The MVP has rushed for 1,206 yards and 7 touchdowns. He threw for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns.

But, the Ravens’ defense doesn’t always step it up. That could spell disaster versus Patrick Mahomes, last season’s NFL MVP. Mahomes and the Chiefs are on a roll. They’ve won 6 straight. The defense has played better in recent weeks.

What the answer comes down to is an odds analysis. Just because the Chiefs offer higher odds than Baltimore, it doesn’t mean they offer fairer odds. Baltimore must win 2 games in their building. Not a bad setup. Also, coach John Harbaugh has won a Super Bowl while Andy Reid often fails in the playoffs. Between the 2, Baltimore is the better play because we should expect higher odds before backing Kansas City.

Are the New England Patriots an overlay or underlay at +600?

The Patriots were the favorites to win the Super Bowl for most of the season. Now, they offer +600 to win the conference. Why? Tom Brady isn’t the same quarterback. He’s made some questionable decisions. None worse than the pick 6 he threw against the Miami Dolphins in New England’s shocking Week 17 loss.

If the Pats had won, they’d have gotten this weekend off. Instead, they lost to one of the worst teams in the NFL. Most teams can’t recover from that. Right now, New England is no more special than any other wildcard team playing this weekend. That makes the Patriots an underlay at +600. No way the New England Patriots win 3 in a row and take the AFC.

What team among the Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans deserves the most attention to win the AFC?

Houston has stars on offense. Tennessee is en fuego. But, the Buffalo Bills have the strongest defense heading into the playoffs. The Bills allow 16.2 points per game from 298.3 yards per.

Buffalo’s vanilla offense has turned off oddsmakers, NFL fans, you name it. They can win with their defense and serviceable quarterback Josh Allen, though. Also, they had a chance to tie the game on the final drive against the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo can pull off the shocker.
