NFL Betting Analysis: Five Reasons NFC Will Win Super Bowl 51

Written by on December 9, 2016

No team from the NFC has managed to win either of the last two Super Bowls, but there is hope for fans and betting enthusiasts that want to back a NFC-based team to win this season’s upcoming Super Bowl 51 showdown. If you’re looking for reasons why you should place some faith – and your NFL Super Bowl futures odds betting bucks on an NFC-based team, I’ve got five great reasons for you to do just that! Let’s get started.

NFL Betting Analysis: Five Reasons NFC Will Win Super Bowl 51

1. Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll

Ever since Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson were joined at the hip in 2012 when Carroll shocked everyone by naming the rookie as his starter, the Seattle Seahawks have been perennially powerful Super Bowl contenders. After making consecutive Super Bowl appearances by winning Super Bowl 48 and narrowly losing Super Bowl 49, Seattle fell just short in losing to Carolina in the divisional round last season, but are back in contention this year. With the league’s stingiest defense and Wilson at the helm, not only will Seattle contend this season, but for the foreseeable future if you ask me.

2. Zeke and Dak and Dallas

Rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott and first-year quarterback Dak Prescott have completely transformed the Dallas Cowboys from a team with the league’s most brittle quarterback (Tony Romo) to one that now has an elite rushing attack and a rock-solid quarterback that apparently makes fewer mistakes than most 10-year veterans. If Dallas’ defense holds up, they could, not only represent the NFC in Super Bowl 51, but win it all for hands-on owner Jerry Jones.

3. Matthew Stafford and the Lions

No one really thought very highly of the Detroit Lions coming into the 2016 regular season, but I did after seeing the way the Lions closed out the 2015 season by winning six of their final seven games to save head coach Jim Caldwell’s job.  Now, the Lions are absolutely scary thanks to Stafford’s often jaw-dropping late-game heroics and an offense that features a handful of very good, if underrated skill position performers. Sure, Detroit doesn’t have the most fearful defense there is, but I’d hate to be playing the Lions in a tight affair in the fourth quarter, seeing as how Stafford has already engineered a whopping six fourth-quarter comebacks this season!

4. The Eli Manning Factor

I know Eli Manning has this perpetual sheepish look that says ‘What’d I miss?’ but the fact of the matter is that Manning is a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback that has exceed everyone’s expectations in two postseason runs that came against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots of all teams. The G-Men may not make the playoffs this season, but if they do get in, can you ever count them out?

5. History

Last but not least, NFL bettors that like a NFC-based team to win it all this season should know that history says you’ve got a 50-50 chance of cashing in. Five of the last 10 Super Bowl winners have been NFC-based franchises. Here is a look at the NFC-based Super Bowl winners over the last decade.
