Last meeting

These clubs met last season also in Week 5 in Nashville and the Bills won 14-7. Josh Allen threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns for Buffalo in an otherwise defensive showdown. Jordan Phillips had a career-high three sacks — by halftime — as Buffalo sacked Marcus Mariota five times. Mariota of course is no longer with the Titans. Their kicker that day missed three field goals and had a fourth blocked. The Bills outgained the Titans 313-252 despite 11 penalties for 78 yards.

The last five meetings between the two clubs have been decided by an average of just over three points per game (3.2).

Why Bet on Buffalo?

Three of Buffalo’s four wins this season have been decided by seven points or less and in two of them the Bills had to stage fourth-quarter comebacks.

Buffalo (4-0) has a two-game lead atop the AFC East and comes off a 30-23 win at Las Vegas on Oct. 4. Josh Allen, who is playing at an MVP level, completed 24-of-34 passes for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allen also scored a goal-line rushing touchdown. Allen did leave briefly with a shoulder injury but is fine. He leads the NFL in passing yards off play action with 673.

The Bills QB has put up a 100 passer rating or higher in each of his first four games. With a passer rating of 100 or better on Sunday it would mark his fifth consecutive game with a 100-plus passer rating, establishing a new team record.

Stefon Diggs caught 6-of-7 targets for 115 yards. Diggs is on pace for 1,612 yards and 8 touchdowns. He has been a stellar trade acquisition. Devin Singletary rushed 18 times for 55 yards and a score. Singletary also caught 5-of-6 targets, the second most on the team, for an additional 21 yards.

No. 2 wideout John Brown is questionable Tuesday but seems likely to play through a calf injury. Star cornerback Tre’Davious White missed practices last week but also should go.

Why Bet on Tennessee?

The Titans are 3-0 for the first time since 2008, while the Bills are 4-0 for the first time since 2008.

Because of the positive COVID-19 tests, the Titans had their game against the Steelers, originally scheduled for October 4, rescheduled for October 25. The game against the Bills was originally scheduled for Sunday. Until Saturday, the Titans had not practiced since Sept. 29. Both the NFL and NFLPA have been concerned about the team’s physical conditioning ahead of a return to game action.

The Titans have had 24 members of their team – 13 players – test positive for COVID-19 since the end of last month but returned all negative results this morning so this will go off as scheduled barring something unforeseen on Tuesday morning.

The Titans removed offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson and defensive back Greg Mabin from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday and returned to their facility on Saturday for the first time since Sept. 29. Defensive lineman DaQuan Jones and long snapper Beau Brinkley also were activated off the COVID-19 list Sunday.

The Titans (3-0) haven’t played since a 31-30 win at Minnesota on Sept. 27 – their three wins are by a combined six points. The team has put two receivers, Corey Davis and Adam Humphries, on the COVID-19/reserve list. Overall, nine players are expected to miss this one on that list. On the bright side, No. 1 wideout AJ Brown is expected to play. He hasn’t since Week 1 due to injury.

“Obviously we’re going to be missing some guys, but that’s just the situation we’re in,” Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill said. “We didn’t choose this, but we’re living in the middle of a pandemic and this came up. We’re going to be down some guys, but it also raises a big opportunity for some guys that have been with us.”
