Why should you bet on Indianapolis in this matchup? The best reason would be because they’ve got the best quarterback in this pairing in veteran Andrew Luck. Why should you bet on New York in this contest? One reasons is because the Jets are playing at home. Another, even better reason is because New York is playing with some blossoming confidence and last but not least, the Jets have found they have a real playmaker in veteran running back Isaiah Crowell who led the way to victory as New York improved to 2-3 on the season by dominating Denver in its 34-16 win on Sunday.
Crowell rushed for a franchise-record 219 yards including a 77-yard TD scamper. Crowell did his damage on just 15 carries to set an NFL record for yards-per-carry average (14.6 ypc) for a player with 15 rushing attempts or more.
“It means a lot to me,” Crowell said. “I’ve got to give all the credit to my O-line. I can’t really take the credit. Really, it was all them. I mean, the holes were open. Anybody could’ve run through them. It just happened to be me. They really set the record.”
Fellow running back Bilal Powell added 99 yards rushing to help new York finish with 323 yards on the ground, good for second-most in franchise history. Sam Darnold completed just 10 of 22 passes but tossed three touchdowns and only one pick in the win.
