Now that the NFL Draft is over, and most of the big-name free agents have found a home, it’s time to take a look at the favorites to win each of the eight divisions. Let’s take a look at the betting favorite to win each division in the NFC and AFC so you can bet against their NFC Divisional odds and their AFC Divisional odds respectively.
Potential Playoff Teams – The Division Winners | NFL Betting Predictions
National Football Conference
NFC East – How ‘Bout Them Cowboys
- Dallas Cowboys -110
Dallas is a huge favorite to win this division. And it’s not necessarily because the Cowboys are a great team, it’s because the rest of the division isn’t very good. The Cowboys should have a very good offense, but there are still a lot of question marks surrounding the defense. We’ll see if Dak Prescott can take another step forward.
NFC North – Owned By Rodgers
- Green Bay Packers -175
Until Aaron Rodgers retires, Green Bay should be the favorite to win the North. Even though they lost Davante Adams, the Packers still have the best offense in the division. They’ve made some improvements to the defensive side of the ball, and Green Bay should dominate this division once again.
NFC South – Brady is Back!
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers -280
When Brady came back from his month-long retirement, the odds swung in Tampa Bay’s favor. Much like the NFC East, the rest of this division isn’t very good. As long as Tampa stays healthy, they should run away with the South.
NFC West – Can the Rams Defend Their Title?
- Los Angeles Rams +125
The Rams lost some key pieces, but they replaced them with some very good players. The Rams will be challenged by Arizona and San Francisco, but on paper, they have the best team.
American Football Conference
AFC East – Nobody Circles the Wagons Like the Buffalo Bills
- Buffalo Bills -175
Josh Allen has a great offense, and the Bills defense is one of the best in the league. Allen is one of the top players in the league, and he could be ready to finally lead the Bills to a Super Bowl.
AFC North – Elementary My Dear Watson
- Cleveland Browns +175
Now that the Cleveland Browns have acquired Deshaun Watson, they’re the favorites to win the division. Cleveland has a lot of offensive weapons, and many blame the poor play of Baker Mayfield for the Browns not going farther. We’ll see if Watson is the answer. Remember, he could miss some games due to a league suspension.
AFC South – Is Ryan the Answer
- Indianapolis Colts +100
For the fourth straight year, the Colts will have a new starting quarterback. They’re hoping that Matt Ryan is the answer. With good receivers, one of, if not the best running back in the league, and a good tight end, Ryan could be what the Colts need. Their defense is also very good, so this team could make a run at the Super Bowl.
AFC West – No Hill, No Problem
- Kansas City Chiefs +160
This is the best division in football. Even without Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs are favored to win the division. We’ll see if Patrick Mahomes can do it without Hill, or if the Chiefs will miss the speedster. The Chiefs have made some improvements to their defense, so we’ll see if those additions pay off.
The top free agents have found new teams and the draft is in the books, which is why it’s time to start planning for the NFL Season. Parity reigns in the NFL, which is why underdogs exist in almost every future betting category. Keep reading for four long shot teams that have a real chance at winning their division so you can bet against their NFC Divisional odds and their AFC Divisional odds respectively.
Four Long Shot NFL Bets to Win their Division this Season
2022-2023 NFL Regular Season
- When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
NFC East – Washington Commanders +480
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are the two favorites to win the NFC East. But although Dallas and Philly should be tough to beat, Washington offers overlay odds.
Ron Rivera’s defense will be much better this season than last season. The offense should be a very good unit now that Carson Wentz is under center. The Commanders are under the radar, which makes them a solid long shot pick.
As you may have guessed, D.C.’s success depends on how well Wentz performs. Carson has a seriously talented target in wide receiver Terry McLaurin. So if things go well, Washington can upset Dallas and Philadelphia.
NFC South – New Orleans Saints +400
No doubt, the odds on the Saints to win the NFC South will fall. So if you agree with the following assessment, jump on the Saints as soon as possible.
New Orleans made two key free agent signings in the past couple of weeks. Dennis Allen’s squad signed Tyrann Mathieu to play safety. New Orleans also signed Jarvis Landry to play wide receiver.
In addition, New Orleans drafted receiver Chris Olave and left tackle Trevor Penning in the first round. Yes, Tom Brady is back with the favorite, Tampa Bay. But overall, New Orleans appears to have the better team.
The key for the Saints will be how well Jameis Winston clicks with his receivers. If Winston doesn’t throw picks, the Saints will thrive.
AFC West – Las Vegas Raiders +800
Kansas City, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos are loaded. No doubt, those three teams should be favored to win the AFC West.
But we shouldn’t look past a team that made it to the playoffs last season and signed the best wide receiver in the NFL, Davante Adams, during the offseason. Las Vegas is a seriously talented team.
The Raiders can hang with any squad in the AFC West. So at the odds, they’re a fantastic play to win the division. The defense is underrated and quarterback Derek Carr and Adams played together at Fresno State.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
