NFL Odds to Make the 2019 Playoffs

Written by on July 18, 2019

Okay NFL betting buffs, with the 2019 regular season getting closer by the day, it’s time for some fun-filled expert betting predictions on which teams are going to get in the playoffs and which ones you should probably avoid laying your hard-earned betting bucks on.

With the start of NFL preseason action just a few short weeks away, let’s get down to business!

NFL Odds to Make the 2019 Playoffs

In Like Flynn

New England Patriots

Let’s start with the No. 1 lock to make the playoffs there is! As long as Tom Brady is upright and healthy, the Pats are a lock, though it’s going to cost you a cool, $-900.

New Orleans Saints

After getting robbed out of a berth in last season’s Super Bowl, I’ve got to believe that Drew Brees and the Saints are going to play the 2019 with a massive chip on their collective shoulders!

L.A. Rams

Despite their pitiful Super Bowl performance and the fact that I’m not real fond of Jared Goff, the Rams have been a perennial winner under Sean McVay and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Chicago Bears

After their stunning 12-4 campaign from last season, everything is looking up in Chi-Town! Khalil Mack is a monster, Matt Nagy is clearly an offensive genius (well…almost) and Mitch Trubisky is a lot better than some other quarterbacks with higher profiles (Jared Goff).

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs might have parted ways with Kareem Hunt and will likely be without the services of elusive wide receiver Tyreek Hill for some length of time in 2019, I’m thinking as long as MVP Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are joined at the hip, the Chiefs are going to be super difficult to stop, at leas offensively.

L.A. Chargers

Yes, the Bolts are perennial bridesmaids, but this is going to be ‘The’ year for Philip Rivers right? Well…L.A. looks like a playoff lock to me at the very least!

It’s Likely

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson is back under center and the rest of the Seahawks are improving quickly. To be honest about it, last season I though Seattle was starting to look a bit like the Legion of Boom legends they once were.

Philadelphia Eagles

You heard it here first. Carson Wentz has a  Philly cheesesteak-sized MVP-caliber season while leading the Birds back into the Playoffs!

Baltimore Ravens

After going 10-6 in their first season with Lamar Jackson under center, the Ravens are looking good to me heading into 2019, seeing as how they’re almost assuredly going to use the tried and tested method of power rushing and lock-down defense to reach the postseason in 2019.

Houston Texans

Yes, the Texans underachieved in a big way last season and yes, I’m getting really doubtful that Bill O’Brien is the right guy to get it done, but hell, Houston still has a star in quarterback Deshaun Watson, and some other stars like…oh….J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney!

Indianapolis Colts

After missing the entire 2017 season, Andrew Luck almost single-handedly turned the Colts back into a playoff participant…well, with some help from talented first-year head coach Frank Reich that is.

Dallas Cowboys

Even though I was born to hate the ‘Boys (I’m from Philadelphia), Dallas has a lock-down defense, a really good quarterback in Dak Prescott (don’t hate), and an elite running back and wide receiver in Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper respectively. Oh, then there’s the fact that some guy named Jason Witten will be back in uniform after un-retiring.

On The Bubble

Each one of these teams will have a decent to good chance of reaching the postseason in 2019.

Minnesota Vikings

If Kirk Cousins shows up…

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers will have to overcome the losses of two perennial Pro Bowlers.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have recorded alternated winning and losing records in each of the last six season, so they’re due to get back on track.

Cleveland Browns

They’re not a lock, but the Browns are on their way!

Tennessee Titans

If Marcus Mariota finally lives up to his potential…

Jacksonville Jaguars

The addition of Nick Foles could help turn the Jags into the dangerous team they were in 2017.

Green Bay Packers

Despite having the incomparable Aaron Rodgers under center, there are questions everywhere in Green Bay in Year 1 of the Matt LaFleur era.

Washington Redskins

The Skins aren’t as awful as you think and they definitely hit a home run when Dwayne Haskins fell into their laps in the NFL Draft (Thanks NY Giants).

No Way Jose

These teams will not make the playoffs in 2019.
