The Detroit Lions (2-13-1) take on the Green Bay Packers (13-3) for an NFC North battle in the final game of the regular season at Ford Field. In week 17, the Packers clicked the number one overall seed with a victory over the Vikings 37-10 in prime time, while the Lions were destroyed by the Seahawks 51-29.
Both of these teams don’t have much to play for heading into Sunday. The Packers haven’t stated whether or not they will roll out their starters, but I expect them to give plenty of their backups time. That being said, let’s see how these two teams stack up so you can get ready to continue making your bets against the NFL odds.
NFL Betting Preview for Green Bay Packers at Detroit
Green Bay Packers Betting Preview: Aaron Rodgers Front Runner for MVP
The Green Bay Packers have all the momentum as they are the NFC North champions, own the number one seed in the NFC, and have the MVP favorite in Aaron Rodgers.
Green Bay picked up an easy win over the Minnesota Vikings in prime time Sunday night. Rodgers completely picked apart the Viking defense, tossing two touchdowns and 288 yards in the win, while the rushing attack added 174 yards and two scores on the ground. Overall, Rodgers has 35 touchdowns to just four interceptions while the offense is averaging over 26 points per game during their four-game winning streak.
On the defensive side of the ball, Green Bay was just as lethal as they held a Kirk Cousin-less offense to ten points and 206 yards on the night. The Packers didn’t have a takeaway but held Minnesota to 2/12 on third downs and held Dalvin Cook to 13 yards on nine carries.
Detroit Lions Betting Preview: Lions Look to Finish Season on a Positive Note
The Lions were in Seattle last week and showed some heart putting up 29 points but were ultimately embarrassed losing 51-29. The offense was down several starters, including their starting quarterback Jared Goff. Tim Boyle threw three interceptions and the rushing attack only collected 95 yards in the loss.
It wasn’t any prettier on the defensive side of the ball as the Lions were hammered for 50 points and almost 500 yards of offense. Not only did they not force a turnover, but the Lions also let Seattle walk in the end zone six times in their eight trips to the red zone. Detroit will have plenty to work on in 2022 as they rank 29th in total defense (39.9) and are allowing 27.3 points per game.

The Packers clinched the number one overall seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. That being said, they should rest their starters at some point and I think that opens up a chance for the Lions to win outright. Although they hold potentially the top pick in the draft, Dan Campbell and this Lions squad are gritty and they fight to win every game.
The Lions are surprisingly 10-6 ATS this year and a solid 5-2 at home. Despite giving up a whopping 51 points on their last outing, they should get some starts back off the injured list and have no problem holding off Jordan Love.
