Week 3 of the new NFL season was certainly a memorable one, and for those of you who were with us here last week, I bet you have a lot to smile (and thank us) about, after more than 70 percent of our SU picks for the week were spot on. Looking for similar picks for the Week 4 games? Good for you, because we have this week’s edition of NFL betting SU picks specially prepared for you below.
NFL SU Pick: MiamiThe Jets didn’t play that badly in their 24-17 loss to Philadelphia in Week 3, or even in their first two weeks of the season. The Dolphins, on the other hand, were utterly poor in their loss to Buffalo, and Ryan Tannehill is a man under pressure to perform well this week. With a neutral game in London, this could be anyone’s game, but the Dolphins have too much to lose here, something we believe will help Miami to eke away a tight win over the Jets in a very cagey affair.
NFL SU Pick: IndianapolisWith the pressure of getting their first win out of the way, the Colts will be in their offensive element here, so expect a strong winning performance from them.
NFL SU Pick: BuffaloThis game has all the makings of a shootout affair, with Eli Manning and his receivers doing their thing on one side, and Tyrod Taylor and his triple-threat offense taking care of things for the home team. In the end, though, Buffalo should emerge victorious, owing to their superior defensive strength.
NFL SU Pick: CarolinaJameis Winston has been showing slow-but-sure signs of increasing maturity for the Bucs, but Cam Newton and the Panthers (3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) are in a whole different class right now. Go with Newton and the Panthers to hand the Buccaneers a beatdown in a potentially high-scoring game.
NFL SU Pick: PhiladelphiaAfter upsetting the Eagles and ending their playoff dreams towards the end of last season, there is a lot of hope in the nation’s capital that a similar result could be in the books. And statistically speaking, the Eagles are yet to impress this season, so it would be hard to rule out Kirk Cousins and the improved Washington defense from winning this game. Still, I have a feeling that Philadelphia’s offense will show up in this game, making life difficult for Washington and leading to a comfy Philly win.
NFL SU Pick: ChicagoThere are many uncertainties in this game, including Jay Cutler’s health, making it hard to give a straight-away prediction. Just about the only guarantee here is that the two leaky defenses will allow massive points and take the total OVER. That said, this is a consecutive road game for Oakland, which will be very draining, while the Bears are very desperate for a first win. Bearing all that in mind, a win for Chicago is the favored pick here.
NFL SU Pick: AtlantaJ.J. Watt is still J.J. Watt, but Matt Ryan and Julio Jones (league-leader with 440 yards receiving) are beasts who are currently looking unstoppable. So even with the Houston defense playing respectably in this game, Ryan and his explosive offense should be able to claim a fourth win for the Falcons, who are impressively 3-0 SU and ATS for the season.
NFL SU Pick: CincinnatiThis game reeks of an upset of Cincinnati, going by Kansas City’s near-win over Denver and a good showing over Green Bay at the Lambeau on MNF. However, after Andy Dalton impressively passed for 383 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in their 28-24 road win over Baltimore last week, I am afraid that Dalton’s regular-season magic will not be ending at home, at least not this week. Added to the way Cincy’s defense has been making key plays in their 3-0 run this season, I’m inclined to lean on the Bengals here.
NFL SU Pick: ChargersThis is pretty simple—Cleveland’s Josh McCown has been shakier under the center than San Diego’s Philip Rivers. When you combine that with the fact that the Chargers have been performing quite well in their backyard, you get a near-guarantee that San Diego will be easing past Cleveland for a solid home win in this Week 4 clash.
NFL SU Pick: Green BayIf Jim Harbaugh was still around, I’d have second-guessed this pick, considering he was a master at out-coaching the Packers. But with Jim Tomsula now in charge, I don’t see the 49ers putting a stop to the red-hot Aaron Rodgers who has already passed for 10 TDs in his first three games, including 5 against the Chiefs in MNF. Be careful, though, on the ATS lines, as the quick turnaround on Green Bay could affect their capacity to stretch the scores.
NFL SU Pick: ArizonaAfter the Rams scored just 6 points in their loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday, while the Cardinals obliterated the Niners in a 47-point beatdown, there’s simply no way St. Louis will put the clamps on the blazing hot Arizona team that leads the nation in scoring. Be on the lookout for another blowout win from Arizona.
NFL SU Pick: DenverWe all love Adrian Peterson, or at least what he does on the field, but when Denver’s mean defense is involved in any bet, you really have to question if the opposing offense has what it takes to survive the menacing hits from the Broncos’ physical defense. Meanwhile, the so-called washed-up Peyton Manning is coming off a 324-yard, 2-TD, 1-interception performance against the Lions, while Minnesota’s defense is allowing 243 YPG, setting up a big chance for the old man to do his thing under the center. Add the rowdy Miles High crowd, and a yet-to-impress inexperienced second-year QB (Teddy Bridgewater) in the mix, you get a game that is Denver’s to lose.
NFL SU Pick: DallasThe Cowboys are proven road giants, something that is affirmed by their flawless road record that dates from the start of last season (9-0 SU). Backup QB Brandon Weeden also didn’t look that bad, and Joseph Randle and his fellow runners looked really good last week, which should give the Cowboys a variety of weapons to exploit the Saints porous defense that can’t defend anything. So whether or not Drew Brees is back for this game, the Cowboys will most likely claim the win here, possibly with a huge margin. FYI, the Saints are 0-6 SU/ATS in their last six games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
NFL SU Pick: SeattleIt’s hard to doubt that the Seahawks are back to where they belong, after they manhandled the Bears for a 26-0 shutout win at the CenturyLink Field. Playing a successive game at the same field, and against a mightily struggling Detroit (which pretty much looks like last week’s Chicago team), is thus likely to elicit more-or-less similar results for Seattle.
