NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Analysis for Friday Night Matches

NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Analysis for Friday Night Matches

It’s week 2 of the NFL preseason, and while we may not see starters in a lot of games, we’ll still see some very important position battles taking place. Let’s take a look at the three preseason games being played on Friday night so you can make your bets against their NFL Preseason Lines

Friday, August 19th NFL Betting Action | 2022 Preseason Analysis

Carolina Panthers @ New England Patriots

After practicing together throughout the week, these two teams will meet on Friday night at Gillette Stadium. One of the big storylines heading into this preseason game is the feistiness between the two teams. In Tuesday’s practice, there were lots of near-fights and one all-out brawl.

We don’t know if we’ll see much from the Patriots, but the Panthers quarterback battle is still in full swing. Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield have been splitting reps with the Panther’s first team. While many think that Mayfield is the better option and will win out in the end, the Panthers are still treating it as a battle and probably won’t make a decision until near the start of the regular season.

We’ll see how much each of the two play on Friday night, and if Mayfield is more productive than Darnold, he will have a huge edge heading into the third preseason game.

New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers

These two are also practicing together this week. Both teams lost their preseason debuts. Aaron Rodgers has been frustrated early in Packers camp. With the loss of Davante Adams, the Packers have a very young wide receiving corps. The youngsters have been plagued by poor route-running and dropped balls thus far in camp. Rodgers has voiced his frustrations with his receiver. We’ll see if Green Bay can get things fixed up prior to the regular season.

As for the Saints, they were missing a lot of players last week, but many of their starters have returned to practice this week. We don’t know if they’ll see much action in this one, but they are practicing against the Packers. Andy Dalton will be backing Jameis Winston up this season, and Dalton has looked good thus far in the preseason. New Orleans is in a much better situation with their backup quarterbacks this season than they were last season.

Houston Texans @ Los Angeles Rams

Heading into the regular season, these two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Houston should be one of the weaker teams in the league, while the Rams are expected to make another long playoff run this season. Sean McVay has already announced that his starters won’t see much action this week, but there will be some key players to watch.

Bryce Perkins was the only quarterback to take snaps this preseason, and he’ll more than likely play most of the game against the Texans. He’s playing for the third-string spot on the Rams. The Rams are also auditioning a lot of skill-position players, so this game will be important for them.

As for the Texans, they’ll have a young roster regardless, and this game will be big for many players that are on the fence. Lovie Smith has a lot of decisions to make, and this game could be make-or-break for many rookies and younger players.
