NFL Preseason Week 3 Winning ATS Picks

Written by on August 22, 2017

There are many bettors out there who cannot resist a little wager as soon as the NFL preseason games get started. But there are also many who wait until things get a little more predictable, or at least as predictable as the preseason can be. This usually means waiting until NFL Preseason Week 3, as that is usually when the starters begin to get some more playing time. While we might actually get to see the likes of Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger do more than wear a headset and hold a clipboard, and that can only help out betting chances. With all of that said, let’s look ahead at the match-ups and betting odds for Week 3 of the 2017 NFL preseason to see if we can find some good picks ATS.

A Closer Look at the NFL Preseason Week 3 Winning ATS Picks

Carolina Panthers (+1) at Jacksonville Jaguars

While we might not see much of Cam Newton, if we even see him at all, this is still a game that you would expect the Panthers to win. Both teams have split their opening two games of the preseason. Although the Jaguars look to still have some serious issues on the offensive side of the football. The Panthers had a chance to beat the Buccaneers last week, but could not punch the ball in from a couple of yards out, despite having 4 bites at it. The Panthers won’t need to put a lot of points on the board to win this one. I’m looking at Carolina by a TD.

New England Patriots (-1 ½) at Detroit Lions

If there is any sign that the preseason is no real indication of what to expect in the regular season. It has to be that the Patriots are 0-2 through the first two weeks. I think that changes this week when the defending Super Bowl champions make the trip to Detroit to face the Lions.

Defensively, the Patriots have been poor through the first couple of preseason games. But with the regular season drawing ever closer, I think that Belichick will be looking to tighten things up a little. Patriots get their first preseason win, covering in the process.

Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons (-3 ½)

The Falcons have put together back to back losses to start the preseason.. But you need to look at what they did in their opening drive in Week 2 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers to get an idea of what might happen here. Matt Ryan played one series, minus Julio Jones at WR, and took the Falcons 91 yards to the house. He is going to get more than a single series in this one. And the damage could well be done before the second and third string guys take the field. I like the Falcons to win this one going away.

Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens (+3 ½)

The last 3 regular season meetings between these two teams have all been close, with 2 of those games decided by a field goal. Instead of looking at those games, I am looking at what the Ravens have been able to do through the first couple of weeks of the preseason, and all without Joe Flacco under center.

NFL Preseason Week 3 Winning SU Picks

They have put up a pair of big wins, but no one os sure that the trend of lopsided victories will continue. So I certainly think they can do enough to cover this spread in their own building.

Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers (+6 ½)

I am always a little reluctant to touch preseason games with a spread this big, especially since the norm is 3 to 3 ½ points in most games. That said, the Steelers have won both of their preseason games, and have done so without playing any of their big weapons. I expect that to change in Week 3. Even if LeVeon Bell has still not shown up, rookie James Conner proved in his debut that he is going to be a nice fit at RB. I like the Steelers by a TD in this one, which is just enough to cover.
