NFL 2021 Season: Rams vs Texans Betting Analysis & Prediction

The Los Angeles Rams host the Houston Texans on Sunday, looking to continue their win streak.

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off their third straight victory and hope to make it four this Sunday against the lowly Houston Texans. Houston is sitting at the bottom of the AFC South at 1-6 and hasn’t won a game since Week 1.

The Rams enter this matchup as 14.5 point favorites. The total for this game is currently set at 48. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm EST at SoFi Stadium, and you can watch this game on FOX or DAZN. Let’s have a look at both teams and how they arrive to this Rams vs Texans matchup so you can wager against their NFL odds.

NFL Betting Preview for Los Angeles Rams at Houston

Stafford In The MVP Conversation

Matthew Stafford has been incredible in his first year with the Rams. The former number one overall pick has an impressive passer rating of 116.7 and has only thrown 19 touchdowns to only four interceptions through seven games.

Stafford had his way against his former team in his last game, but the Rams still almost got upset. They were trailing by double-digits against the Lions at one point in Week 7, and it will be vital for Sean McVay’s group to play a full sixty minutes if they want to avoid another close game like last week against the Lions.

Offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth is listed as questionable (knee), and defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph Day has been limited in practice this week (pectoral).

Deshaun’s A Distraction

With rumors swirling around the league about Deshaun Watson possibly being traded to Miami, the Houston Texans have been a total side-show in 2021. After winning their first game, backup QB Tyron Raylor got injured, and rookie Davis got thrust into the spotlight.

It’s been a rude awakening for the former Stanford Cardinal. Mills has thrown only five touchdowns to seven interceptions and has a passer rating of 74.4. Other than speedy wideout Brandin Cooks, he doesn’t have many weapons, and running backs Mark Ingram and David Johnson are both well past their prime at this point in their career.

To make matters worse, the Texans’ defense is abysmal. They’re allowing an average of 405.7 yards a game and have the second-worst run defense through seven weeks of play. Look for Rams running backs Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel to both have big games on Sunday.

Injury-wise, Houston linebacker Christian Kirksey is questionable for this one after fracturing his thumb against the Cardinals last week.

Prediction

Getting a god scare by the 0-7 Lions last week will be good for Rams backers in this one. Sean McVay should have his team looking to jump out and maintain control from the get-go. The Rams defense hasn’t been like it was last season, but this is a great game to go off and feed on a young unconfident quarterback like Davis Mills. I have no problem laying the points and taking the Rams on the spread in their home stadium on Sunday.

The Pick: Los Angeles Rams -14.5
