NFL Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Written by on April 30, 2020

The NFL Draft is important for every team in the league, but it is especially so for those teams that are stuck in the tougher divisions. One bad draft can send a team heading in the wrong direction, making it tougher for them to compete with the other teams in the league who have drafted well. Heading into the coming season, we can look at the strength of each division and see that the NFC West is high on the list, especially since the Arizona Cardinals are making moves that are going to potentially lift them off the bottom. The Seattle Seahawks were a playoff team last season and figure to be in the hunt again this year. Let’s take a closer look at the 8 picks they made in the 2020 NFL Draft and their updated NFL Odds.

NFL Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Seahawks Round 1 Pick

The Legion of Boom days are now well in the rearview mirror for the Seahawks, and it was their defense that held them back a little last season. Everyone expected them to address that issue with their 1st round pick, but the player that they chose proved to be a bit of a surprise. Seattle went with LB Jordyn Brooks out of Texas Tech, and while it was certainly a different pick than what we expected, you cannot say that it was a bad one,

Seahawks Round 2 Pick

Given the pick that they made in the opening round of the draft, the Seahawks needed to trade up to get the man they wanted in Round 2. That player was DE Darrell Taylor out of Tennessee, a speedy edge rusher who might be able to add a little disruptiveness to a D-line that consistently failed to get much pressure on opposing QB’s last season.

Seahawks Round 3 Pick

The thinking was that the Seahawks would go looking for a weapon for Russell Wilson in the 3rd round, but they opted instead to take G Damien Lewis out of LSU. There figures to be a ton of competition for spots on the offensive line in training camp, as the Seahawks now have 18 players on the roster all battling for those spots. A bit of a strange move here.

Seahawks Round 4 Pick

The Seattle Seahawks had a pair of picks to go with in the 4th round, and they got the ball rolling by selecting TE Colby Parkinson out of Stanford. This is another position where the Seahawks are stacked, but Parkinson looks to be a very reliable target, dropping just one pass last season with the Cardinal. Perhaps the least surprising pick for the Seahawks came in this round, where they took RB DeeJay Dallas out of Miami. The running back situation was brutal last season, with 2 players falling prey to season ending injuries.

Seahawks Round 5 Pick

There are still some serious questions about the Seahawks pass rush this coming season, but they certainly have some good looking young prospects on the books. They added another by taking DE Alton Robinson in the 5th round.

Seahawks Round 6 Pick

We all knew that the Seahawks were going to take a receiver at some point, but they waited until the final pick of Round 6 to get their man, selecting WR Freddie Swain out of Florida.

Seahawks Round 7 Pick

It was another surprising pick from the Seahawks in the final round, as they took another tight end, this time going with Stephen Sullivan out of LSU.

This was a surprising draft by the Seahawks and one that the pundits did not like at all, giving them an average grade of C-. As far as their Super Bowl odds go, the Seahawks are currently sitting at +2200.
