Written by on December 18, 2020

We also add another category, top underdog plays to win Super Bowl LV. Keep reading for this week’s updated Super Bowl Contenders and Pretenders. That said, let’s get right to it so you can keep preparing your bets and place them against their Super Bowl odds.

Updated Super Bowl LV Contenders & Pretenders Analysis

2021 Super Bowl LV

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021
  • Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

2021 Super Bowl LV Contender Odds

  • Kansas City Chiefs +180
  • New Orleans Saints +650
  • Green Bay Packers +650
  • L.A. Rams +1000
  • Seattle Seahawks +1200
  • Buffalo Bills +1100
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1200

It’s impossible to back Kansas City at +180 odds. They are the best team in the NFL, but at +180 to win the Super Bowl, we’d expect them to be blowing out teams. KC hasn’t covered in their recent games. That’s a sign that either they’re taking it easy to conserve something for the playoffs, or they’re not as solid of a favorite as the odds indicate.

The Saints or Packers are better choices among the under +700 favorites. But the best play based on odds are the Buffalo Bills

With Josh Allen under center, the Bills have an impossible to stop offense. Also, the defense has gelled, making Buffalo the biggest contender to Kanas City’s AFC reign.

Top Super Bowl LV Pretender Odds

  • Pittsburgh Steelers +1100
  • Baltimore Ravens +2000
  • Cleveland Browns +4000
  • Indianapolis Colts +2500

After a second straight loss, the Pittsburgh Steelers have dived from contender to pretender. Pittsburgh doesn’t have it this season. The problem? They peaked way too early. They’re headed back to the mean at the worst possible time.

Baltimore beat Cleveland this past Monday night in a classic. But neither team has what it takes to win the Super Bowl. Both squads field defenses that won’t stop the Packers, Saints, Chiefs, Bills, or Buccaneers

Indianapolis is another team that has a pretender look. Philip Rivers can beat you on any given day. He can also beat his own team with bad throws that lead to interceptions.

Top Super Bowl LV Longshot Contender Odds

  • Tennessee Titans +2500
  • Miami Dolphins +5000
  • Washington Football Team +7500

The Titans finally played defense and look what happened? They put a nice beating onto the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tennessee’s offense can beat any defense because if you commit to stopping Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill will make you pay. The defense must continue to play well. If it does, the Titans have a much better shot than the odds indicate.

Miami learned a lot in their 27-33 loss versus the Kansas City Chiefs in their last. The Dolphins should improve from the effort. Tua Tagovailoa threw for 300 yards and tossed 2 touchdowns. With Tua showing he can carry the load the Dolphins could improve enough to put a scare into the Chiefs and Bills.

The final longshot contender is the Washington Football Team. The WFT fields the top defensive line in football. Alex Smith is a steady presence at quarterback. If Washington upsets Seattle on Sunday, expect their odds to significantly drop.
