Sure Winners For 2016 NFL Week 1

Sure Winners For 2016 NFL Week 1

Written by on August 4, 2016

We are only a few days away from the first week of preseason games, and while it would be wise not to make too many predictions until we see how teams come out of those preseason match-ups, it doesn’t hurt to have a little look into the football crystal ball. I don’t really like the idea of making lock picks or suggesting that there is a sure winner, especially with the parity in the NFL. That said, there are always a few games that jump off the page every single week, and all of them call you to the online sportsbook of your choice. We are going to get the ball rolling by taking a look at Week 1 to see which teams could possible go down as sure winners. I have picked out a few, and I hope you will agree that these are the teams that could give a little boost to you bankroll in Week 1.

Sure Winners For 2016 NFL Week 1

Vikings over the Titans

Like a lot of NFL bettors, I am always a little wary about suggesting that a road team is a sure winner. This is one that I feel pretty comfortable about, though. Since the Titans moved from Houston to Tennessee, they have played the Minnesota Vikings 5 times, and have only managed to win one of those game. The Vikings are coming into this season on a high after winning the division last year with an 11-5 record, and they will be looking to get off to a fast start this season. This match-up represents an excellent chance for them to do so.

Seahawks over Dolphins

These are two teams that don’t meet very often, and you actually have to go back to 2012 to find their last match-up. The Dolphins have won both previous meetings against Seattle, with both of those games played in Miami. Those wins came before the big Seahawks franchise turnaround, and the Dolphins are going to have to head into an environment that is very difficult for any team to head into. The Seahawks just don’t lose at home very often, and I just don’t see them losing to a team that promised to be pretty mediocre this year.

Colts over Lions

There were a lot of football fans who believed that the Colts had what it took to make a deep run in the playoffs last year, but losing QB Andrew Luck for 9 weeks upset those plans quite a bit. The Colts did pretty well without their star man, but they also look a whole lot better when he is under center. It is tough to know how the Lions are going to do this season without the now retired Calvin Johnson in the line-up, but common sense would suggest that they are going to take a dip. The Colts have won 4 in a row versus the Lions dating back to the 2000 season, and I would be very surprised if they did not extend that winning streak to 5.
