Updated NFL Betting Power Rankings

Written by on December 23, 2015

The Broncos were the only team in our NFL betting top 10 to falter this week, as they lost two in a row as the league may be catching up to their flaws. Let’s take a look at how the 32 NFL franchises stack up against one another this week.

Updated NFL Betting Power Rankings – Dec 23rd

cleveland-browns# 32 Cleveland Browns (3-11)

The Browns are in excellent position to get one of the first two picks in the 2016 NFL draft. They haven’t been this high in the draft since 2000. Tanking time, anyone?

tennessee-titans# 31 Tennessee Titans (3-11)

It’s important to remember that the Titans added Marcus Mariota…and hardly anyone else. They’ve still beaten last year’s win total.

dallas-cowboys# 30 Dallas Cowboys (4-10)

If NFL games were like NHL games (three periods instead of four), Dallas would be 11-3.

san-francisco-49ers# 29 San Francisco 49ers (4-10)

The Niners are dead last in the NFL in total offense and total scoring for the first time since 2007.

baltimore-ravens# 28 Baltimore Ravens (4-10)

The Ravens have scored five offensive touchdowns in the four games since Joe Flacco went down for the season.

san-diego-chargers# 27 San Diego Chargers (4-10)

The Chargers seem to have found new life in their whipping of the Dolphins last week. Too late for this year, but something to build on for next?

miami-dolphins# 26 Miami Dolphins (5-9)

Miami is 2-6 since they routed Houston in Week 7, scoring only 16.4 points per game.

detroit-lions# 25 Detroit Lions (5-9)

The Lions are 3-2 in their last five. If only they had played defense on the last play against Green Bay; they could be 8-6 and a major wild card player.

chicago-bears# 24 Chicago Bears (5-9)

Jay Cutler is averaging two touchdowns for every interception, so for once he isn’t the cause for their problems.

new-orleans-saints# 23 New Orleans Saints (5-9)

The Saints are #32 in the league in scoring defense this year for the first time since 1980.

indianapolis-colts# 22 Indianapolis Colts (6-8)

The Colts’ home loss to Houston was the first in franchise history. The Colts have lost three straight and are averaging 12.0 points per game.

jacksonville-jaguars# 21 Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9)

Allen Robinson is tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions for 13. If he wins, he would be the first Jaguar to lead the league in that category for a season.

st-louis-rams# 20 St. Louis Rams (6-8)

Tavon Austin has ten touchdowns (if you include returns) and his rushing yards (390) balance well with his receiving yards (427).

philadelphia-eagles# 19 Philadelphia Eagles (6-8)

In their last five games, the Eagles have permitted 40 points three times, losing by 21 each time.

tampa-bay-buccaneers# 18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8)

Doug Martin, Mike Evans and Jameis Winston are a fascinating offensive trio that the Bucs could build around for next year.

buffalo-bills# 17 Buffalo Bills (6-8)

Losing to Washington eliminated the Bills from the playoffs, which means it’s 16 straight years since they were in the playoffs.

atlanta-falcons# 16 Atlanta Falcons (7-7)

The Falcons have returned from the dead…at least for one week, as both Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman found the end zone.

new-york-giants# 15 New York Giants (6-8)

The Giants have assured themselves of a non-winning season for the third consecutive year. Five of their losses have come in the last 10 seconds of the game (regulation or overtime).

oakland-raiders# 14 Oakland Raiders (6-8)

Amari Cooper gained over 1,000 yards receiving for the season this past Sunday, the first Raider to do so since 2005, when Randy Moss did it.

houston-texans# 13 Houston Texans (7-7)

It will be hilarious if Brandon Weeden can lead the Texans to an AFC South title after he could not move the Dallas offense an inch in relief of Tony Romo.

washington-redskins# 12 Washington Redskins (7-7)

Kirk Cousins is #1 in the NFL in completion percentage so far this season (69.7). If he can finish in first, he’ll be the first Redskin to do so since 1970, when Sonny Jurgensen did it.

new-york-jets# 11 New York Jets (9-5)

Even with a winning season, it will be tough for the Jets to get past either Kansas City or Pittsburgh to snag a wild card.

minnesota-vikings# 10 Minnesota Vikings (9-5)

Even after Adrian Peterson went down Sunday, Teddy Bridgewater carried the team with four touchdown passes to secure the win.

denver-broncos# 9 Denver Broncos (10-4)

Denver has outscored the opposition by a total of 40 points in the first half of the last three games. Unfortunately, the second halves of those games have seen then shut out by a combined 36-0.

kansas-city-chiefs# 8 Kansas City Chiefs (9-5)

The Chiefs have been turnover-free in eight games this season. In those games, they are 7-1.

green-bay-packers# 7 Green Bay Packers (10-4)

The Packers are now in the playoffs for the seventh straight year, the longest streak in the storied history of the franchise.

seattle-seahawks# 6 Seattle Seahawks (9-5)

In the last four games, Doug Baldwin has ten touchdown receptions. The only person to accomplish that feat is Jerry Rice.

pittsburgh-steelers# 5 Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5)

The Steelers have hit 30 points in six games in a row for a franchise record, scoring in 21 straight quarters.

cincinnati-bengals# 4 Cincinnati Bengals (11-3)

The Bengals held on for a win with A.J. McCarron at quarterback, but it was thanks to the defense, which took the ball away four times.

new-england-patriots# 3 New England Patriots (12-2)

The Patriots have clinched a bye in the first round for the sixth consecutive season.

arizona-cardinals# 2 Arizona Cardinals (12-2)

The team has set franchise records for wins and points (445) in a season — with two more games to go, against Green Bay and Seattle, both at home.

carolina-panthers# 1 Carolina Panthers (14-0)

Ted Ginn Jr. has 10 touchdown receptions so far this season, the first Carolina wideout to get that many since Steve Smith in 2005.
