Who will be taking part in the postseason is still a bit of a mystery, as the playoff races in both conferences are still ridiculously tight. Buffalo Bills over Carolina Panthers

Given how last season went and how this one began, who would have thought that the Buffalo Bills would be in danger of missing the playoffs? I certainly thought they were a lock to win the division and perhaps be the #1 seed in the AFC, but instead, they are at 7-6 and a little too close to the playoff line for comfort. The Panthers are an absolute mess at the moment, as they are missing their best player, Christian McCaffrey, through injury and don’t have a reliable QB to lean on. Buffalo may not be playing their best football at the moment, but this is still a team that is 10-3 SU in their last 13 at home going against a Panthers team that they have beaten in 5 of the last 7 meetings.

Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans

Okay, so while the first pick this week is one that I feel very comfortable about, this one does make me more than a little nervous. Both of these teams are truly horrible, but is there one that is worse than the other? That is the decision that we need to make here. One the one hand, you have the Houston Texans heading out on the road knowing that they have won 7 in a row versus the Jaguars, but those wins came when this team was a good deal better than they are now. On the flipside, you have a Jacksonville team where the players seem to be revolting against the head coach, which could well mean that they down tools and play to get him fired. There are no trends that could lead you one way or another, so I am giving the edge to Jacksonville at home.

LA Rams over Seattle Seahawks

This is one of the games this weekend that has some huge playoff implications. The LA Rams appear to be back in business after a stumble, winning each of their last 2 games with the offense once again firing on all cylinders. We were, perhaps, a little too quick to write them off when things started to go south, but at 9-4, this is a team that still has one of the best records in the league. The Seahawks are hanging around in the playoff fight after winning 2 in a row, but they still have zero margin for error. A loss this weekend would not eliminate them, but it would make their postseason path one that would be tough to navigate. The problem Seattle has here is that they have won just once in their last 5 versus the Rams.
