Week 6 LA Rams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Betting Lines & Game Preview

Written by on October 12, 2017

To say that the opening 5 weeks of the 2017 season has been surprising is perhaps putting things a little too mildly. The teams that we all expected would soar have, for the most part, failed to launch, while perennial strugglers have suddenly taken a big leap forward. The LA Rams, who couldn’t find their way to the end zone for much of last season, have suddenly turned into a scoring machine that has taken them to a 3-2 record and a tie for the lead in the NFC West, but according to the NFL betting lines for Week 6 that’s not enough to be favorites. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the laughing stocks of the league for years now, but they too have come to life this season, thanks in large part to the addition of rookie Leonard Fournette, who has proven to be an absolute beast. While these early season successes are exciting for the fan bases of both teams, no-one is getting too carried away just yet. This is a pivotal game for both teams, and a win here may well serve as the launching pad for the rest of the season. The Jaguars come into this one as a 2 ½ point home favorite, with the point total set at 42.

Why consider the LA Rams NFL Betting Lines?

The LA Rams came flying out of the gate, going 3-1 through the first 4 weeks of the season and racking up 142 points. They had the opportunity to really make a statement last week when they faced the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West clash that would have given them a stranglehold on the division with a win. The Rams turned in their worst performance of the season in a 16-10 loss, and you now need to wonder what their psyche is like as they head on the road to face a Jaguars team that is sure to still be on a high after thumping the Steelers on the road last week. Los Angeles is much better on offense this season but is going to be up against a Jags defense that forced 5 INT’s in their win last week, and who is going to be very tough to break down. The Rams are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and have seen 14 of their last 20 games on the road go UNDER.

Why consider the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Betting Lines?

When you make one of the best QB’s of the modern era publicly state that he may not have it anymore, you know you are doing something right. The Jacksonville Jaguars went into Pittsburgh last weekend and beat the Steelers 30-9 in a game where they forced Ben Roethlisberger to toss 5 picks, 2 of which were returned for a TD. Playing at home, the NFL Betting Lines favors the Jaguars.   Sure, you could say that Big Ben had a bad day at the office, but you could also say that this Jags defense is for real. Remember, it was only a couple of weeks ago when they limited Joe Flacco to 28 passing yards in a 44-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens in London. Consistency has been an issue for this team, though, as they had a 23-20 loss to the Jets wedged between those two big wins. Jacksonville is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games, but are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This one has all the makings of a tight battle, although I do believe it will cross the 44-point total when all is said and done. I think the Jaguars continue to roll with a win here and I like them to cover, too. Score: Los Angeles Rams 20 – Jacksonville Jaguars 27
