When you reach the midway point of the season, it’s always good to reflect on what has happened over the first 8 weeks. In the NFL, we are seeing some teams really begin to look like potential Super Bowl winners, with the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles ruling the roost in their respective conferences. We have also had a pretty decent run with our picks through the first half of the season, going 44-23 overall, with that record encompassing our combined SU, ATS, and O/U picks. As handicappers, we are like every team in the league in that we want to finish strong in the regular season, as there are no prizes for a job half done. With that in mind, let’s dive right in and deliver our Week 9 O/U picks in the NFL so you can ready to make your bets against the NFL Odds.
O/U Picks for This Week’s NFL Games | Week 9 Betting Analysis
Buffalo Bills at New York Jets – UNDER 47
As mentioned at the top of this piece, the Buffalo Bills have proven to be very much as advertised and are living up to the billing of Super Bowl favorites. They come into this one having won 4 in a row to get to 6-1 on the season. They can extend their lead at the top of the AFC East this season with a win over the surprising Jets, who come into Week 9 sitting in 2nd at 5-3. There are a lot of signs that point to this one being more of a tight, defensive battle, starting with the fact that the UNDER has hit in each of Buffalo’s last 5 games, as well as in 4 of their last 5 conference games. It has been much the same story with the Jets, who have seen 6 of their last 9 go UNDER the point total.
Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots – UNDER 39
For the teams hovering below the playoff line, it may be a little too early to push the panic button, but you can bet that there are a few fingers hovering over it right now. That is certainly the case with both of these teams, as they are both underperforming. The Patriots are at 4-4 right now and are looking to get back above .500 and make up some ground in the division. The Colts have benched their starting QB and are at 3-4-1 after losing 2 in a row. Neither team is lighting things up offensively, with the Colts seeing 12 of their last 13 games go UNDER the point total. The Patriots have been trending OVER, but I see this one as low scoring.
LA Chargers at Atlanta Falcons – OVER 49 ½
If, prior to the start of the season, you had said that the Atlanta Falcons would be on top of the NFC South at the midway point of the season, you may have been laughed out of the room. That is exactly where they are, though, with the Falcons benefitting from what has been a very week division thus far. The Chargers are 4-3 and in the playoff picture, but we actually expected more from them this season, so they will be hoping for a stronger showing in the second half of the season. On the road, the Chargers have seen 5 of their last 6 games go OVER, while Atlanta has had the OVER hit in 6 of their last 9 overall.
