Bad news for the Anaheim Ducks as one of their best players, Cam Fowler, is expected to miss the next 3-7 weeks because of a knee injury, which has already kept him out of the lineup for the last week. He initially suffered the injury on Oct. 20 versus the Habs, playing less than two minutes of that game before leaving. Here’s a look at some intriguing NHL betting matchups this week. Not all games have the latest NHL odds available yet, but be sure to check back before placing your picks.

NHL Betting Matchups & Picks of the Week – October 30th Edition

Vegas Golden Knights at New York Rangers

When: Tuesday, 7 PM ETWhere: Madison Square Garden, New York CityTV: SNORadio: FOX Sports 98.9 FM (Vegas) / 104.5 FM (NY)Live Stream: NHL.tvWho would have guessed that the expansion Golden Knights would have such a superior record at this point of the season than the New York Rangers? It’s possible that by the time you read this, the Rangers will have fired coach Alain Vigneault because they have been so terrible. The Rangers have been outscored 3-0 in the first 2:00 of games; 5-1 in the first 3:00; 6-2 in the first 4:00; 8-3 in the first six minutes; 10-4 within the first 10:00; and 13-4 in the first 12:00 of the first 12 games. On Saturday, the Rangers were outshot an unthinkable 19-2 and outscored 3-0 in the first period by an equally struggling Canadiens team. No. 1 netminder Henrik Lundqvist looks nothing like himself. He has been on the bench the past two games but should start Tuesday. Lundqvist has a 2-4-2 record to go with a 3.12 GAA and a .900 save percentage and the hope is the couple of games off will get him back in his groove“I feel like the good things have been good. A few errors I made last couple games, I just need to cut it down a little bit,” said Lundqvist. “It’s a fast game, and all it takes is a bad decision here or there and that’s the difference.”Meanwhile, Vegas coach Gerard Gallant is thrilled with the play of Oscar Lindberg. Lindberg was taken from the Rangers in the expansion draft and has not looked back. He has four goals in nine games thus far but it has been his overall play that has impressed Gallant. “He’s been tremendous for us,” Gallant said. “The guy comes to work every day, never complains and does whatever you ask of him.” The Golden Knights are 8-1 and the talk of the hockey world.NHL Betting Pick: Vegas Golden Knights

2018 Stanley Cup Odds & Expert Betting Predictions

Philadelphia Flyers at Chicago Blackhawks

When: Wednesday, 8 PM ETWhere: United Center, ChicagoTV: NBC Sports NetworkRadio: 97.5 FM (Philadelphia) / 720 AM (Chicago)Live Stream: NHL.tvIt’s Philly’s only visit of the season to the Windy City. The Flyers’ top line of Sean Couturier centering Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek continues to excel. The line has combined for 15 goals and 42 points in 11 games. Voracek has 16 points, which is third in the NHL.Brian Elliott made 28 saves on 30 shots in a 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The goaltender now has a record of 5-2-0 with a goals-against-average of 3.14 and a save percentage of .885. In that game, defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was injured. He was hammered hard into the glass at 9:51 of the second period by Leo Kamarov, but played the remainder of the period and even assisted on Valtteri Filppula’s goal at 11:03, which gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead. He did not come out of the dressing room for the third period. Gostisbehere has 12 points in 10 games for the Flyers. It’s not yet clear if he will play here. Are the Blackhawks a safe NHL betting pick this week? The Blackhawks started the season strong but have tailed off.  The Hawks have lost five of their last six games and three straight in regulation.  They have scored two or fewer goals in six of their last eight games, and if not for a meaningless late goal, it would have been seven. The Hawks have come up empty on 15 straight power plays and 20 of their last 21. The Hawks are a .500 team (in terms of points earned) this late in the season for the first time since they were 11-11-2 during the 2010-11 season.NHL Betting Pick: Chicago Blackhawks

Pittsburgh Penguins at Vancouver Canucks

When: Wednesday, 8:30 PM ETWhere:TV: SNORadio: 105.9 FM (Pittsburgh) / Sportsnet 650 (Vancouver)Live Stream:It’s the best one-on-one individual matchup in hockey as Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby takes on another former Hart Trophy winner in young Oilers superstar Connor McDavid. If these teams play again this season after Wednesday it would be in the Stanley Cup Finals.Edmonton visited Pittsburgh on Oct. 24 and lost 2-1 in overtime. McDavid assured the struggling Oilers of a least a point by forcing overtime with a late goal, but Phil Kessel beat Cam Talbot 42 seconds into the extra period. The 30-year-old Crosby still doesn’t have a point when facing the 20-year-old McDavid, but the Penguins improved to 3-0 against Edmonton when McDavid is in the lineup thanks to a solid all-around defensive effort that included 29 saves from Matt Murray. McDavid edged Crosby for the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP last season.Edmonton is an early disappointment. The biggest issue right now is scoring. Edmonton is 30th in the NHL averaging only 2.20 goals-for per game, and has been plagued by a lack of secondary scoring. McDavid has 11 points and has contributed to 50 percent of the Oilers goal totals so far.The club has been disappointed with the Ryan Strome – Jordan Eberle trade from this summer. That deal may have opened up available cap space for Edmonton to get Leon Draisaitl under contract with a hefty raise, but it also removed a player that was a proven scorer. Blueliner Oscar Klefbom also needs to step up his game.  Klefbom had 12 goals and 38 points last season and many thought that his stats would improve this season but that has not been the case. The defenseman has only two assists in 10 games and is a minus-six.NHL Betting Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins
