Lightning bump Bruins

After a first-round playoff loss in 2019, the Tampa Bay Lightning promised themselves that they’d step it up in 2020. True to their word, the Lightning bounced last year’s Eastern Conference Stanley Cup participant from the playoffs.

The Boston Bruins entered the NHL Playoffs one of the favorites to win the whole thing. It took Tampa just 5 games to end Boston’s dream.

Now, Tampa is a solid second-choice to beat the Vegas Golden Knights and win the Stanley Cup.

Golden Knights and Islanders can close out opponents on Tuesday

Both the Vegas Golden Knights and New York Islanders can close out their respective opponents on Tuesday.

After a 2-5 Game 2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, Vegas said “enough of this.” The Golden Knights trounced the Canucks 3-0 in Game 3. They beat Vancouver 5-3 to win Game 4.

Vegas is a -230 favorite on Sep. 1 to send the Canucks home.

The Islanders entered their series versus the Philadelphia Flyers a slight underdog. Now, they’re a favorite to win the Cup. NYI won the first game 4-0. They lost the second game 3-4 in overtime before winning the third game 3-1 and the fourth game 3-2.

Islanders are -115 favorites to win Game 5.

Both Vegas and New York look strong. Expect both teams to win their Game 5 matches on Tuesday night.

Avalanche and Stars in a tough series

The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars are in a nail-biter.

The first two games went to Dallas, 5-3 and 5-2. Colorado stepped it up in Game 3. The Avalanche beat the Stars 6-4. The Stars won Game 4 by a 5-4 score. Colorado then dominated 6-3 in Game 5.

Game 6 happens on Wednesday. Colorado is a -125 favorite. Dallas has one of the top defenses in NHL. Watch for the Stars to play a more conservative game on Sep. 2.

If it works, the Stars move to the Western Conference Finals. If not, the Avalanche will head to Game 7 an even bigger favorite than they are for Game 6.

Have a great rest of your week!
