2022 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Avalanche vs Lightning Game 3 Betting Analysis

2022 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Avalanche vs Lightning Game 3 Betting Analysis

They say that a change of scenery can at times make all the difference in the world. The Tampa Bay Lightning are hoping that this is true, as they head back home from Colorado down 2-0 to the Colorado Avalanche in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Avalanche have outscored the Lightning 11-3 in the first two games. Tampa Bay, who is looking for their third straight Stanley Cup, has never been in a situation like this in the Stanley Cup Finals. In years past, Andrei Vasilevskiy, their all-world goaltender, has carried them to victory. That hasn’t been the case thus far in the series. We’ll see if getting back home to Tampa is just what he and the rest of his teammates need. Let’s see how both teams arrive to game 3 of the finals so you make your bets against their Stanley Cup Betting Lines.

Will Home Ice Save the Lightning? | Stanley Cup Betting Analysis

Home Ice Advantage

Tampa Bay loves playing at the Amalie Arena. They’re 7-1 in the postseason, with their only loss coming in the opening round to Toronto. Vasilevskiy has been stellare at home throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In his last five postseason starts at home, he has only allowed five goals.

After their embarrassing 7-0 loss in Game 2, the Lightning know that their backs are against the wall. Being down 2-0 hasn’t seemed to be an issue for Tampa Bay though. In their conference finals series with the New York Rangers, they were down 2-0 before they reeled off four straight to win the series.

If Tampa Bay wants to avoid going down 3-0 and having very little chance of winning their third-straight Stanley Cup, they’ll need their high-powered offense to kick it into gear on Monday night.

The Avalanche are on a Roll

Colorado has won seven games in a row, setting a franchise playoff record. Cale Makar has been outstanding for the Avalanche. The favorite to win both the Conn Smyth and Norris Trophy scored a power-play and shorthanded goal in Game 2. He has been a force in the playoffs, and Tampa Bay will need to figure out a way to slow him down.

While many teams struggle on the road, it doesn’t seem to bother the Avalanche. They are 23-9 in their last 32 road games. Even though they’re good on the road, we know that it could be a struggle for them at Tampa Bay.

Who Will Win Game 3?

Being down 2-0 doesn’t seem to be an issue for the Lightning. However, we’ve seen teams exert so much energy digging themselves out of deep holes, that they just don’t have enough left in the tank to get over the hump. We’ll see if that’s the case for Tampa Bay.

Coming back home will be huge for the Lightning. We have a hunch that Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and Brayden Point will be ready for this one. They’ve been fairly quiet in the series, and we think that they’ll break out in Game 3. Tampa Bay will be energized by their home crowd and the Lightning jump right back into the series with a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3.
