2022 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Lightning vs Avalanche Game 1 Betting Analysis

We are, at most, now just 7 games away from crowning the new Stanley Cup Champion. The question now is whether it will be the preseason Sports Betting favorite or the 2-time defending champion that gets their hands on the iconic trophy. Given what has gone down over the past 3 rounds, you do have to say that the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning are certainly deserving of getting their shot in the Stanley Cup Final. Both teams will have had a few days to rest up and get ready for the challenge ahead, but what type of final are we going to see? Will it be more of a defensive struggle, or will the offense of the Avalanche for the Lightning into a shootout? Why bet on the Tampa Bay Lightning

When you have a team that has won the championship in each of the last 2 seasons, you know you are dealing with a team that is going to be tough to knock off. The Lightning have certainly proven their toughness in that regard, coming from 3-2 down in the series to beat the Leafs in Round 1, and then going in an 0-2 hole to the Rangers before coming out and winning 4 in a row. They had a sweep of the Panthers in between those series wins, so this is a team that can get the job done in many different ways. In the Eastern Conference Final, it was all about goaltending and defense, with Tampa holding the Rangers to just 5 goals over the final 4 games of the series. They lost both meetings with the Avalanche in the regular season, but both were by a single goal, so perhaps expect another tight one here.

Why bet on the Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche have, at times, made the road to the Stanley Cup Final look ridiculously easy. Yes, they had to go to 6 games to knock off the St. Louis Blues in Round 2, but they won by a sweep in the other 2 series. Part of the reason why they have looked so good on their way to the final is that their offense has been firing on all cylinders, scoring 69 goals through their 14 playoff games. That is a ridiculous rate of scoring when you consider that things tend to be a little tighter in the postseason. Perhaps even scarier is that they don’t rely on one player for their offense, as they are great at spreading out the scoring.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

As we mentioned earlier, both games in the regular season series were decided by a single goal. I think we can expect more of the same here, which is why I like the Lightning at +1 ½. I also like the UNDER in Game 1.
