Written by on March 24, 2017

There are just 3 weekends left in the NHL season, and we have already seen a few teams clinch their playoff spots. There are still plenty of spaces to be filled, though, and what happens over the next couple of weeks will dictate which teams will be playing on the postseason, and which ones will be on the golf course. The next 3 days will see a ton of games that have playoff implications, and we are going to take a look at which ones might be most worthy of your betting dollars. We will also be putting together some NHL betting parlay picks for the weekend, so be sure to look for those in a separate post.

A Closer Look At The Top NHL Betting Games Of The Weekend (March 24th – 26th)

New York islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins – Friday

This is the perfect example of a game that has very different levels of importance for the two teams taking part. The defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to land the #1 seed in the East, which would also mean getting their hands on the President’s Trophy. The New York islanders, meanwhile, still have a legitimate shot at sneaking into the final Wild Card spot in the conference, but they need to start picking up wins, and quickly.

Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens – Saturday

The Atlantic Division has turned into a 2-horse race, with the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens battling it out for top spot. The Canadiens have a 1-point lead right now, but they could relinquish that this weekend of they lost to the Senators, who are hot on their heels. It’s always fun to watch Canadian teams go head to head, but it’s even better when those teams are among the very best in the conference.

New York Rangers at LA Kings – Saturday

The strength of the Metropolitan Division this season can be seen by looking at the New York Rangers. They have accumulated 94 points, yet are still only good enough to be in the Wild Card spot. They are sure to feature in the playoffs, and may even clinch a spot this weekend. The same cannot be said for the LA Kings, as they are in the fight of their lives, sitting 8 points adrift of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Their window of opportunity is closing fast, and they need to start winning right now if they are to somehow pull off what looks impossible.

Minnesota Wild at Detroit Red Wings – Sunday

The teams that look certain to be heading into the playoffs really can’t afford to relax, as we all know that how you end the regular season often dictates how well you do in the postseason. With that in mind, this is a game that the Minnesota Wild really need. They have gone just 2-8 in their last 10 games, and have relinquished the top spot in the Central Division to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Wild will be in the postseason, but they will want to get some of their swagger back by closing out the season strong.
