Pro D2 – Best Games to Bet On
France’s Pro D2 has just crossed the halfway mark of the season, and play returns this weekend for the first time in a fortnight.
Already Oyonnax have developed a significant lead on the rest of the pack, sitting 17 points clear of the rest of the table. They’ll look to defend that position when they take on second-ranked Mont-de-Marsan this weekend, who sit back on 50 points. It’s been 13 games since a team last beat Oyonnax, but that team was none other than Mont-de-Marsan in their previous meeting.
With odds of -1428 for Oyonnax and +630 for Mont-de-Marsan, it could be worth picking the upset here.
Top 14 – Best Games to Bet On
The other major rugby league in France, the Top 14, has also just passed the halfway mark of its season. This competition is much tighter, however, with Toulouse and Stade Francais Paris sitting three points apart in first and second.
Stade Francais Paris have an opportunity to close the gap on the competition leaders this weekend, however, as they play bottom dwellers Perpignan in their Round 16 match. Take Stade Francais Paris to win here with a moneyline of -133. Toulouse, on the other hand, face a tougher challenge in fifth-ranked Montpellier, who will be eager to score an upset and move closer to securing their playoff position.
Montpellier have not been defeated this year, while Toulouse were soundly beaten by La Rochelle a few weeks ago. At +293, it could be worth backing Montpellier for the win here as well.
Premiership Rugby – Best Games to Bet On
Across the ditch in England, Premiership Rugby is two-thirds of the way through its season. The league receives a shake-up this weekend as the majority of internationals will be away preparing for the upcoming Six Nations kick-off, giving some of the teams who have been struggling a chance to mount a late-season push for the playoffs.
The Harlequins will be looking for a result this weekend with a match-up against ninth-placed London Irish, as Saracens and Sale are beginning to break away at the top of the table. However, Harlequins will be without a whole host of international players, and could actually prove a little vulnerable in this fixture. A loss here would see them in a dogfight for a top-four position, so expect this match to be a fascinating contest.
Despite the disparity on the table, the Quins are underdogs in the betting odds. We say they’ll scrape home, though, and a bet on them with a moneyline of +117 is a good wager.
