2021 Copa America Matches to Wager On July 3rd

CONMEBOL – Copa America Quarterfinals Matches

  • When: Saturday, July 3

Colombia (+225) vs Uruguay (+136)

  • When: Saturday, July 3

After Colombia beat Ecuador 1-0 in their first Copa America match, it sure felt as if the Colombians might end up one of the favorites to win the Copa. But Colombia struggled in their three other group matches.

Drawing 0-0 with Venezuela might as well be a loss. After that match, Colombia lost 1-2 against Peru in a game most believed they were going to win. The final group match was a 1-2 loss to Brazil.

There’s no shame in losing to Brazil, maybe the best team in the world, but dropping a match to Peru and drawing with Venezuela doesn’t bode well for Colombia’s chances of beating Uruguay.

The Uruguayans have turned it on. Jairo Quinteros and Edinson Cavani scored goals in Uruguay’s 2-0 win against Bolivia. Cavani got the penalty in the 1-0 win against Paraguay.

Uruguay won their final two group stage matches and Luis Suarez didn’t knock in a goal in either. That gives Uruguay a big edge in this. At above even money, Uruguay is the play to end struggling Colombia’s Copa America dreams.

Soccer Pick: Uruguay

Ecuador +1 ½ (-178) vs Argentina -1 ½ (+134)

  • When: Saturday, July 3

The odds imply Argentina will have a difficult time beating Ecuador by more than a goal. If this match happened in mid-June, we might believe the oddsmakers. But it’s not. It’s happening in early July.

Argentina is playing better than any team at the Copa, including the Brazilians. After a stinging 1-1 tie against Chile, head coach Lionel Scaloni instructed his squad to concentrate on defense. Messi and his teammates responded.

Argentina beat Uruguay 1-0. They then beat Paraguay by a goal. Scaloni then instructed his team to not only concentrate on defense but to also open up the attack.

Once again, the Argentinians responded with a brilliant 4-1 victory against Bolivia. Scaloni has Argentina playing better in an international tournament than it has since the 2014 World Cup. Expect Messi, Di Maria, Aguero, and the rest of Argentina’s loaded team to continue playing lights out. Argentina should win by 2 or 3 goals.

Soccer Pick: Argentina
