UEFA Euro 2016 Quarter Finals Odds Predictions

With just 8 teams remaining in Euro 2016, the soccer betting odds are starting to tighten up a little, which means you are essentially leaving money behind if you don’t get a bet on prior to the quarter-finals. The nest set of games begins on Thursday afternoon with Poland and Portugal colliding, and it kicks off a bracket that is more than a little lopsided. One side seems to leave open a pretty clear path for just one or two teams, while the other side is filled with European and World champions, oh, and Iceland, too. Let’s take a look at both sides of the bracket to see who might move on in each, after which I will make a prediction as to who I think will win the whole thing.

Euro 2016 Left Side Bracket

The left hand side of the bracket is the one that holds 4 of the weakest teams left in the tournament, but the fact of the matter is that one of them is going to move on. I have a definite pick on this side, but let’s take a closer look at the two games set to go here.The first sees Poland and Portugal hook up, and it has to be said that this is a bit of a surprise. Neither team has played particularly good football throughout the tournament, and Portugal came perilously close to not making it out of the group stages. Were it not for some heroics from Cristiano Ronaldo in a 3-3 tie with Hungary, Portugal would have flown home a while ago. Poland have been horrible so far, especially going forward, and got out of their Round of 16 game versus Switzerland by the skin of their teeth. I have Portugal winning this game 1-0.The second game in this bracket sees a surprising Wales team go against Belgium, who came into the tournament very highly regarded. Gareth Bale has been the difference maker for Wales, and he will need to be at his best to overcome a Belgium team that routed Hungary 4-0 in the Round of 16. I like Belgium here, and I also like them to take out Portugal in the semis.

Euro 2016 Right Side Bracket

Here are where things start to get a little tricky. Hosts France should not have any trouble disposing of minnows Iceland, but didn’t we also say that when the Viking nation went up against England? France really are too good, though, and they should move into the semis.Germany against Italy is a brilliant match-up, and one that really has me looking at a coin flip. Both sides have been technically sound, and the Italians always seem to have a habit of getting better as a tournament progresses. This will be a close one, but I have to give the slight edge to the Germans.That would leave a France versus Germany semi-final, which would be another great match-up. I like the hosts to use home field advantage to move on to the final to face Belgium.

Who Will Win Euro 2016?

From the start, I liked France to win the tournament, and I am not about to change that now. I think a final match-up versus Belgium would be one that soccer fans would love to see, as they are a pair of teams with real attacking flair. France to win it all!!
