Top 2022 MLS Matches to Bet On the Weekend NYCFC vs CF Montreal, Galaxy vs Dallas Analysis

Top 2022 MLS Matches to Bet On the Weekend: NYCFC vs CF Montreal, Galaxy vs Dallas Analysis

The final matchweek of July is upon us in MLS action, and most teams have 12 games remaining in the regular season. This weekend’s slate includes 26 of the 28 teams on the field. New York Red Bulls, who lost in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Wednesday, will host Colorado Rapids next Tuesday while the other teams are all in action.

Both conferences have just one matchup this weekend featuring the top seven teams going head-to-head. LAFC has distanced themselves atop the Western Conference by four points over Austin, and both teams play opponents in the bottom six of the standings this weekend. Philadelphia Union, atop the East by one point, faces Houston Dynamo, who sit 11th in the West.

The top two games this weekend give us one in each conference to look at. In the East, second place NYCFC heads to fourth place CF Montreal for a Saturday afternoon tilt. Saturday night, the focus turns to the West as fifth-place FC Dallas hosts seventh-place LA Galaxy. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can bet against their MLS Odds

New Look NYCFC Head to Montreal

NYCFC could end the week in first place in the Eastern Conference, but their leading scorer is headed to Spain. Taty Castellanos, the reigning Golden Boot winner in MLS, has been loaned to Girona for the 2022-23 La Liga season. He currently leads the league again with 13 goals, and NYCFC heads to Montreal in need of a striker to take his place.

The Boys in Blue are one point behind Philadelphia in the standings, and they have played one less game. Meanwhile, CF Montreal is in fourth place in the East, six points behind NYCFC. They are 6-4 at home this season and changed goalies just two weeks ago to James Pantemis.

Pantemis will have to shut down the NYCFC offense that has 14 goals in the last six games and has scored in every game since May 7. Maxi Moralez and Heber both scored against Inter Miami last week, while Talles Magno has been a big boost this season. The 21-year-old has five goals and six assists, while Heber has six goals on the season.

For the hosts, Djordje Mihailovic is back from injury, though he’s yet to play a full 90 minutes in his two appearances. Romell Quioto has the last three goals scored by a Montreal player, including both goals in the 2-1 win at D.C. United. Those two have combined for 16 goals on the season, and no other Montreal player has more than three.

At MyBookie, NYCFC is a slight road favorite at +145. CF Montreal is +155 to take all three points, and a draw is +255. Over 2.5 goals is -153 and under 2.5 goals is +121.

Galaxy Head to Dallas in Need of a Win

The Galaxy have struggled playing in Texas with five straight losses at FC Dallas. They also lost six straight games in Dallas back in the early 2000s, and a loss Saturday would equal that streak.

FC Dallas got back in the win column last weekend after seven straight winless games. They managed four draws in that stretch, including two against second-place Austin FC.

Jesus Ferreira got back on the score sheet Saturday in Salt Lake with his 12th goal of the season. He is third in MLS in scoring and has two goals in the last four games. He scored a brace as Dallas beat the Galaxy in Los Angeles 3-1 in May.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy also stopped a downward slide last weekend. They beat Atlanta United 2-0 after losing three straight games to Western Conference opponents. They have scored at least two goals in five of their last six games, but they lost three of those games 3-2.

Mexican striker Chicharito has just one goal in his last five starts and only two since April 9. Super sub Devan Joveljic has surpassed him for the team lead in goals with nine, eight of which have come in his last eight appearances.

At MyBookie, FC Dallas is +117 to win at home while the Galaxy are +225 to win. A draw is +245, over 2.5 goals is -131, and under 2.5 goals is +103.
