WTA – Women’s Tennis Matchups – 2019 Miami Open

Irinia-Camelia Begu vs Bianca Andreescu

The 28-year-old Romanian Begu last played at the Abierto Zapopan in Guadalajara, Mexico. She bowed out in round 1, losing to Sara Errani 3-6, 6-7 (6-8). Begu hasn’t yet won a singles title this year. She did win a doubles title, though.

Andreescu surprised everyone with her 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Angelique Kerber in the BNP Paribas Open Finals at Indian Wells. She also beat Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina on her way to the title. It’s hard to see Begu upsetting a player like Andreescu in the Round of 32 at Miami.

Tennis Betting Pick: Bianca Andreescu

Vera Lapko vs Alize Cornet

Victoria Azarenka beat Vera Lapko 2-6, 3-6 at the Paribas Open round 1. Lapko’s only 1-6 in singles play this season. However, she battles an opponent in Alize Cornet who hasn’t done much better than she has.

Cornet is 6-6 in singles play this season. She bowed out in round 1 at the Abierto Zapopan. Cornet’s better record doesn’t mean more than the fact she lost in round 1 at a lower level match in her last while Lapko battles a top player in the Paribas Open. Backing Lapko makes sense.

Tennis Betting Pick: Vera Lapko

Yulia Putintseva vs Kirsten Flipkens

The player that Andreescu beat to win the BNP Paribas Open, Angelique Kerber, knocked Yulia Putintseva out of the Paribas in round 2, 0-6, 2-6. Putintseva shows up as a favorite over Kirsten Flipkens.

Flipkens lost to Danielle Collins 4-6, 1-6 at round 2 at the BNP Paribas Open. Yulia’s got more upside here. She deserves backing as the chalk.

Tennis Betting Pick: Yulia Putintseva

Saisai Zheng +165 vs Katerina Siniakova -195

Zheng has a doubles title to her credit this season, but she hasn’t had as much success in her singles matches. Kristina Mladenovic dropped her 5-7, 2-6 in round 1 at Indian Wells. Opponent Katerina Siniakova lost 5-7, 2-6 to Kateryna Kozlova in round 1 at the BNP.

This comes down to odds. Siniakova battles Kozlova tougher in her loss than Zheng did when losing to Mladenovic. But, Zheng offers much better odds. It makes sense to back Zheng here because she could come up with a nice performance on Wednesday.

Tennis Betting Pick: Saisai Zheng
