Players To Watch Out For

  • Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev is easily one of the best tennis players in the world now, and it wouldn’t be too far from the truth to say that Rafael Nadal is currently the only player who can compare to the 24-year-old. Rublev has won each of the last two prominent hard-court events, including the Open 13 at Marseille and the Dubai Tennis Championships, so he should be more than capable of causing some noise in California.

Rublev’s talent is undeniable, and with momentum on his side, he is definitely a man we should keep an eye on ahead of the Indian Wells Masters.

  • Roberto Bautista Agut

Roberto Bautista Agut won the Qatar Open a few weeks ago, where he defeated Andy Murray, Karen Khachanov, and Nikoloz Basilashvili, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Admittedly, Bautista Agut has not looked as good as Rublev, the 33-year-old is still one of the best hard-court tennis players globally and is arguably one of the most reliable players on this surface.

Even though you could argue that Bautista Agut lacks the talent to compete for the trophy, he is a player we believe can make a deep run. And at that point, only an upset win or two are enough to go all the way.

  • Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev is an elite-level player and someone many will want to bet on for this tournament; however, he has not looked that good in Australia. He bounced back with a finals appearance at Open Sud De France but followed that up with an early exit from the Mexican Open, where he got disqualified for his embarrassing behavior.

Zverev is undeniably one of the best players on tour, but he can be very inconsistent on hard courts. Moreover, the fan base won’t be on his side for a while longer following the incident in Mexico, which will only add to the troubles he has delivering in big tournaments.

  • Rafael Nadal

Many excellent players will attend the 2022 Paribas Open, but if you had to pick a tennis player who is most likely to go all the way, it’s hard to look past Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard won his 21st Grand Slam in Australia, where he beat Daniil Medvedev to prove he is still a threat.

Moreover, Nadal won the Mexican Open a couple of weeks ago, where he first defeated Medvedev (6-3, 6-3) in the semis and then added a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Norrie in the finals. Medvedev was long regarded as the best hard-court tennis player in the world, but seeing how he has lost against Nadal twice since the start of the season, we might as well give that tag to the 35-year-old.

Rafael Nadal is currently playing at such a high level and with such efficiency that it’s hard to doubt him and his chances to win a trophy in California.
