ATP Citi Open Winning Predictions

We have barely had time to digest the strawberries and cream from Wimbledon, but now the ATP moves on to Washington, DC for the ATP Citi Open. A lot of the bigger names in the game are on their way to Rio for the Olympics, but this is still a solid field of 48 players, with a few big names competing. The 16 seeded men will get an automatic bye into the second round at Rock Creek Park, and will start action on Tuesday or Wednesday. The draw is split into 4 quarters, with the 4 top seeds headlining each. Let’s take a look at each one, and figure out who the online sportsbook might have as the betting favorites in each.

Quarter One

This is where we find John Isner, who many regard as the favorite to win this tournament outright. He will have some work to do her, though, with the likes of Viktor Trocicki and Steve Johnson likely to be his biggest competitors. I believe it will be Johnson who will get through to the quarter-finals to face Isner, but the favorite should be good enough to head into the semi-finals.

Quarter Two

Bernard Tomic is the favorite in this part of the draw, but it’s doubtful as to whether or not he can get out of what is sure to be a tough set of games for the Aussie. He was at the center of controversy at this tournament last year, as there were some serious doubts as to whether or not he was taking the whole thing seriously. It ended up costing him, and if he comes in with the same attitude this time around, he will sink like a stone in a tough draw. Let’s give Jack Sock the edge in this part of the draw.

Quarter Three

The top seed in this quarter is Benoit Paire of France, but he looks like he could be in trouble against some tougher opposition. There are a number of big serving players in this section, and perhaps none more ferocious than Alexander Zverev of Germany. He may be just 19 years old, but this is a kid with a lot of upside who could really do a lot of damage in this tournament. I like him to get out of this quarter and into the semi-finals.

Quarter Four

Gael Monfils of France is the top seed in this part of the draw, but he is another of the favorites who may be in for a rough ride. American Sam Querrey may be his toughest opposition here, and he is sure to be riding on a bit of a high after making it into the Round of 16 at Wimbledon. I think it will be Monfils and Querrey in the quarters, with the American the one to move on.For me, it looks as though Isner and Zverev are on a collision course for the final, with Isner the one most likely to win it all.
