Last week the ATP had three tournaments. Unlike the WTA, the ATP’s restart happened with the U.S. Open. The men’s side appears to want to make up for many canceled tournaments from now until the Australian Open in January. Although the women haven’t played since the French Open, they get back onto the court this week at the J&T Ostrava Open. Check out what happened last week and a look ahead to this week’s ATP and WTA tournaments. Let’s jump right into action so you can make your bets and cash in against their Tennis odds.
COVID-19 Tennis Update – October 20th Edition
Tennis Tournaments

Men’s Tennis Tournaments: European Open

Rublev, Zverev, Djere win men’s singles makeup tournaments
Three excellent men tennis players lifted trophies over the weekend. Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev and Laslo Djere all won men’s singles trophies.
Rublev beat Borna Coric 7-6, 6-4 to take the St. Petersburg Open. Although the St. Petersburg isn’t a major, we should give Rublev props. Daniil Medvedev, Milos Raonic, and Denis Shapovalov all played at the St. Petersburg. Rublev outlasted all of those well-regarded players.
While Rublev battled in St. Petersburg, Alexandre Zverev cruised through the bett1HULKS Open Indoor Championship in Cologne. Zverev didn’t play a single player of note on his way to the title. It seemed as if Alexander used the tournament to stay sharp.
It’s likely Laslo Djere was doing to the same thing as Zverev. Djere did face and beat Dusan Lajovic in the second round at the Forte Village Sardena Open. But Lajovic was seeded second, which means the top tennis players sat out the Sardena.
Andy Murray won the 2019 European Open, this week’s top men’s singles tennis tournament. The top seeds are David Goffin. Pablo Carreno Busta, Karen Khachanov and Grigor Dimitrov.
Women’s Tennis Tournament: J&T Banka Ostrava Open
- Where: Ostrava, Czech Republic
Svitolina, Pliskova, Sabalenk, Azaranka top four seeds at Ostrava Open
For the first time since the French Open, the women step onto the court in a competitive tournament. The J&T Bank Ostrava Open has attracted some of the top tennis players in the world. Here are the top four seeds:
- Elina Svitolina
- Karolina Pliskova
- Aryna Sabalenka
- Victoria Azarenka
Petra Martic, another terrific tennis player is the fifth seed while the sixth seed is Elena Rybakina. Expect this week’s Ostrava Open to offer plenty of drama.
