At the Australian Open in January, Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka won the first Grand Slam titles of the season. The tennis world shifts to the clay court season in preparation for the next slam, the French Open. Held May 28 – June 11 at Roland Garros in Paris, France, the French Open is the second of four Grand Slams in both the ATP and WTA tennis seasons.

Next Grand Slam: French Open: Early odds to Win

The French Open odds are out at MyBookie for the French Open, and only one of the two Australian Open champs is listed among the favorites. Let’s take a look at both the favorites for the French Open and a couple of longer shots to claim the second slam of the year.

Djokovic Atop the Men’s List

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have both won 22 career Grand Slam titles, but their difference at the French Open is 14-2. Djokovic is the overall favorite at +153, and his two French Open titles came in 2016 and 2021, the latter including a semifinal win over Nadal. Last year, Nadal beat Djokovic in the quarterfinals en route to a record 14th Roland Garros title.

Neither have played on clay yet this year and likely won’t until the Monte Carlo Masters in April. Djokovic is 85-16 in his career at the French and will start the tournament both as the favorite and the No. 1 seed.

Nadal is +250 to win his 15th French Open title. He hasn’t played since losing at the Australian Open, and the biggest question for the Spaniard is his health.

Injuries and Djokovic might be the only things that can slow down Nadal on clay. He is 112-3 in Paris, with two of those losses to Djokovic. Nadal is 14-0 in finals, 14-1 in the semifinals, and 15-1 in the quarterfinals.

The young guy with the best chance to break through is Carlos Alcaraz. The 2022 U.S. Open winner is +172 at MyBookie to claim a second career slam. He has already won on clay this year and won five clay court titles last year before losing in the French Open quarterfinals.

Two previous finalists are a bit of longer shots to win in June. Stefanos Tsitsipas lost the finals in 2021 to Djokovic and he’s +650. Casper Ruud, who lost to Nadal last year in the final, is +1200. Everyone else in the field is at least +1400, including 2021 and 2022 semifinalist Alexander Zverev.

Swiatek a Big Favorite

Having won the French Open in both 2022 and 2022, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek is a big favorite on the women’s side. She is listed at -110 and will be the No. 1 seed at Roland Garros. She has a 21-2 career record at the French Open and enters March with a career record of 44-7 on clay.

Ons Jabeur is the next favorite at +200 on the MyBookie French Open odds. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist has never made the quarters at the French Open, but her only WTA 1000 title came on clay last year at the Madrid Open. Jabeur is 30-8 over the last two seasons on clay but needs to make a run at the French Open to cement her top-five status.

Last year’s French Open runner-up Coco Gauff is the next favorite at +1200. She has an 11-3 career record at Roland Garros, with a run to the quarters in 2021 and a loss to Swiatek in last year’s final. Gauff has reached at least the quarters in three of the last seven slams and a 28-8 record on clay the last two years.

Everyone else in the field is at least +1400, including 2021 champ Barbara Krejcikova at +1450. Sabalenka is also +1450 and Australian Open runner-up Elena Rybakina is as well.
