2022 US Open Betting Update: Latest Odds Analysis Before the Event Starts

The US Open begins today at the Billie Jean King Tennis Complex in New York with several intriguing first-round matches. There will be favorites who get eliminated in this round, while others will march onward.

Among the other major storylines heading into the tournament, we’ll be keeping track of how far Serena Williams can go in her last Grand Slam and closely following the men’s draw, which is without both Novak Djokovic and Alex Zverev. That being said, let’s check out our last-minute US Open Betting analysis.

Last-Minute 2022 US Open Odds Update | Tennis Betting Analysis

Men’s Outright Odds

  • Daniil Medvedev +220
  • Rafael Nadal +375
  • Carlos Alcaraz +500
  • Nick Kyrgios +800
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas +1200
  • Jannik Sinner +1400
  • Taylor Fritz +2000
  • Matteo Berrettini +2500
  • Felix Auger Aliassime +2800
  • Borna Coric +3300
  • Cam Norrie +3300
  • Andrey Rublev +4000
  • Hubert Hurkacz +4000
  • Casper Ruud +5000
  • Denis Shapovalov +6600

The Favorites

With Novak Djokovic missing the US Open due to his vaccination status, defending champion Daniil Medvedev is the betting favorite. His odds lowered when it was announced Djokovic would officially miss the tournament.

In other storylines, Rafael Nadal is looking to win his third Grand Slam of the year and complete one of the most dominant seasons of his career. Remember, he reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, but was forced to withdraw due to an abdominal injury. He’s played only two matches since returning from that injury.

Top Americans

While there hasn’t been a massive American male tennis star since the heyday of Andy Roddick, there’s definitely some solid talent who could make a good run in New York. Taylor Fritz has the shortest odds (+2000) among all Americans. He reached at least the Round of 16 in each of his last five tournaments and won the Eastbourne Invitational earlier this year.

Other Americans who could make some noise in New York include Tommy Paul (+10000), Jenson Brooksby (+12500), and Maxime Cressey (+15000).

Women’s Outright Odds

  • Iga Swiatek +400
  • Simona Halep +750
  • Carolina Garcia +1600
  • Cori Gauff +1600
  • Ons Jabeur +1800
  • Aryna Sabalenka +1800
  • Elena Rybakina +2000
  • Naomi Osaka +2000
  • Emma Raducanu +2500
  • Belinda Bencic +2500
  • Jessica Pegula +2800
  • Beatriz Haddad Maia +2800
  • Liudmila Samsonova +2800
  • Maria Sakkari +2800
  • Bianca Andreescu +3300

The Favorites

Iga Swiatek remains the betting favorite, but her odds have increased over the past week and with good reason. The 2022 French Open winner was a dominant force on the WTA Tour earlier this season, but has struggled as of late.

Swiatek won more than 30 matches in a row at one point this season, but is coming off of a Round of 16 loss to Madison Keys at the Western & Southern Open and, before that, lost in the Round of 16 to Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Simona Halep, who begins her tournament today at 1 p.m. EST, is a more realistic favorite. The veteran has played well as of late. She’s a former Wimbledon and French Open winner and reached the final of the Australian Open in 2018, but has yet to advance to a US Open final.

Top Americans

All eyes will be on Serena Williams in her last-ever US Open and likely last professional tennis match. Williams, however, has only won one of six matches since returning at Wimbledon and isn’t likely to go far in New York.

Coco Gauff, at +1600, has the best odds to win among Americans and should advance at least a couple of rounds, but still hasn’t shown this year that she can take down top competition. She lost in the first round at the Western & Southern Open and lost in straight sets to Halep in the Canadian Open quarter-finals.

Jessica Pegula is worth keeping an eye on as the American is playing some of the best tennis of her career this season.
