ATP & WTA 2022 US Open Betting Update Tiafoe and Caroline Garcia to the Semifinals

ATP & WTA 2022 US Open Betting Update: Tiafoe and Caroline Garcia to the Semifinals

The quarter-finals in both the men’s and women’s singles draw concluded on Wednesday night with some of the best tennis we’ve seen thus far, which is surprising given the quality of competition to this point. It’s time to look at what should we expect heading into the semifinals matches so you can continue betting against the US Open Odds.

Updated 2022 US Open Betting Opportunities Heading Into the Semifinals

Quarterfinals Review

We’ve had surprises, upsets, Nick Kyrgios’ wild antics, and then some through the first five rounds of the Grand Slam. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Simona Halep’s early exits provided memorable moments, as did Serena Williams’ short-lived last run.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz played an instant classic in another match in what could be the next Federer-Nadal-type rivalry.

Sinner had previously beaten Alcaraz in their last two meetings this year, but the young Spaniard overcame a 2-1 deficit to win a five-set thriller and book his spot in the semifinals against American Frances Tiafoe, who has become the best story of the tournament. Alcaraz could earn the world No. 1 ranking if he advances to the final.

While there have been some shocking upsets in the women’s draw, the final four is an impressive field with three of the four players chasing their first Grand Slam title – all four men left are also chasing their first Grand Slam.

If anything, this year’s US Open could be remembered as a changing of the guard, especially on the ATP Tour, where either Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, or Roger Federer have won 61 of the last 76 Grand Slams.

Men’s Outright Odds

  • Carlos Alcaraz +100
  • Casper Ruud +260
  • Frances Tiafoe +400
  • Karen Khachanov +550

Tiafoe Chasing American Greatness

Frances Tiafoe was a longshot to win the US Open before the tournament began and is now a +400 favorite, with the third-shortest odds, to win. If he’s able to continue this magical run and win on home soil, he’ll be the first American male to win a Grand Slam since Andy Roddick in 2003.

Tiafoe is already the first American man to make the semifinals at the US Open since 2006. The 24-year-old is the world No. 26 but will obviously shoot up in the rankings after this. Tiafoe (+150) is the slight underdog against Alcaraz (-188), which is a testament to how well he has been playing.

Karen Khachanov (+150) meets Casper Ruud (-188) in the other semifinal. These should both be close matches, but an Alcaraz-Ruud final seems most likely.

Women’s Outright Odds

  • Iga Swiatek +125
  • Caroline Garcia +210
  • Aryna Sabalenka +450
  • Ons Jabeur +500

Garcia Can’t Be Stopped

Iga Swiatek is the betting favorite to win the US Open and has been since the start of the event. She’s played well but has been pushed to the limit in some of her matches. Caroline Garcia, though lower ranked, has been an absolute beast on the court not only this last week but the past month.

Garcia, coming off of a victory at the Cincinnati Masters, hasn’t lost a set through five matches at the US Open and has beaten formidable opponents like 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and Coco Gauff. She didn’t lose consecutive games until her quarter-final victory over Gauff 6-3, 6-4.

Garcia (-150) is the favorite in her match against Ons Jabeur (+120) and is a great value pick to win the tournament. Swiatek (-225) meets Aryna Sabalenka (+175) in the other semifinal.
