The 2022 French Open is just under a month away, and as we get closer to the second Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, the outright betting odds are seeing quite some movement.
This is largely due to some players reporting injuries but also due to their performances in the tournaments leading into the French Open.
But even though the betting odds have changed, the usual suspects remain up at the top of the list. Today, we will check which are the top French Open Betting favorites to win the Roland-Garros for both men’s and women’s singles.
Early 2022 French Open Betting Favorites and Odds Preview | ATP & WTA Betting
ATP French Open Favorites
- Rafael Nadal (+120)
With 21 Grand Slam titles under his belt, Nadal is currently the most successful men’s tennis player in history and could further cement his status by winning in France. And if there is one thing we can be certain of is that Nadal’s chances to claim his 22nd Grand Slam title are pretty high.
That is mainly due to Nadal’s success in France, where he has won 13 Grand Slam titles, earning him the tag of the “King of Clay.” But the question remains – does the 40-year-old have enough gas left in the tank to claim his 14th French title?
- Novak Djokovic (+225)
Novak Djokovic is undeniably one of the top tennis players in the world, so it makes sense that he is priced as the second favorite to win the 2022 French Open. However, it’s hard to say how he’ll do in France mainly because Djokovic has not been too active this season.
He missed the Australian Open and the Sunshine Double, although he did play in Dubai, where he crashed out after just three matches. He was then supposed to make a comeback in Monte Carlo but suffered a shock loss in R1.
Djokovic’s talent is undeniable, but his form seems to be rough.
- Carlos Alcaraz (+275)
The Spanish teenager came out of nowhere to become one of the most exciting tennis players on tour. As the current no.11 in the ATP rankings, Alcaraz has already won two titles this season in the Miami Open and Rio de Janeiro.
With that, he showed that he could compete with the best and perform on clay, which makes him a serious threat for the 2022 French Open title.
WTA French Open Favorites
- Iga Swiatek (+250)
Iga Swiatek is the clear favorite to win the 2022 French Open and has been since Ash Barty announced her retirement. That makes a lot of sense since Swiatek won here two years ago when she stunned Sofia Kenin.
Moreover, she is in excellent form heading into the 2022 French Open (26-3) and has Krejcikova’s number (2-0), meaning if the two meet on the French clay, Swiatek should be in an excellent spot to take one step further.
- Simona Halep (+650)
Simona Halepp is the second-favorite to win in France, albeit priced at much higher odds than Swiatek. She won here in 2018 and has made two finals in 2017 and 2014, so it’s fair to say that Halep knows her way around the French clay.
But despite her past success, she has not shown as much as Swiatek this season and will need to step up her game if Halep wants to upset the odds and claim her second French Open trophy.
- Barbora Krejcikova (+1100)
The defending French Open champion, Barbora Krejcikova, has found herself priced as the third-favorite on the French Open outright betting markets. Although it may seem like the bookies are underestimating Krejcikova, she has not shown enough this season to be considered as strong as Halep or Swiatek.
That goes especially if we compare her to Swiatek, who Krejcikova has struggled to beat. Their head-to-head record shows 2-0 in favor of Swiatek, which includes one clay-court match, so assuming the two meet in the French Open, Swiatek should be the one advancing.
