Top WNBA Betting Picks of the Week – June 3rd Edition

Written by on June 3, 2019

With the 2019 WNBA regular season moving into its second week of action, now is a great time to identify a trio of contests that I believe represent some of the best value-packed WNBA odds & matchups on this coming week’s slate of action. With that said, let’s get started.

Top WNBA Betting Picks of the Week – June 3rd Edition

Minnesota Lynx (3-0) at Seattle Storm (2-2)

  • When: Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 PM ET
  • Where: Angel of the Winds Arena, Everett, WA

Analysis: Minnesota is the only unbeaten in the league right now and the Lynx look like a team that is going to get back in the championship mix after their unusually mediocre season in 2018. Minnesota is averaging a respectable 77.0 points per game, but it is at the other end of the floor where they’ve dominated the opposition this season. The Lynx got past Dallas 70-67 on Saturday and are holding their opponents to just 66.3 points per game and own a league-best 10.7-point differential.

The defending champion Storm will be without superstar reigning league MVP Breanna Stewart for the entire season and they’re also without savvy floor leader Sue Bird for the foreseeable future after she underwent knee surgery. The Storm have dropped two of their last three games with all three matchups taking place on the road, including their 83-79 loss to Chicago on Saturday.

Prediction

The Storm might be playing at home and they might be the defending champs, but Minnesota is shutting down their opponents in a big way and the Lynx are highly motivated. I’m going with Minnesota for the outright road win and it really won’t be an upset.

WNBA Betting Pick: Minnesota 76 Seattle 70

Las Vegas Aces (1-2) at Atlanta Dream (1-2)

  • When: Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, GA

Analysis: After winning their regular season opener, Las Vegas has dropped two straight including a 80-74 home loss to Connecticut on Sunday. On the flip side of the coin, Atlanta has also dropped two in a row including their 96-75 blowout loss at Washington on Saturday.

Prediction

While these two teams are an identical 1-2 after three games, make no mistake about it, they are not playing anywhere near close to the same kind of caliber of basketball. Basically, Vegas is still playing solid basketball in averaging 1.6 points per game more than they allow. Conversely, Atlanta has a league-worst -11.0 points scoring differential. Despite being on the road, I’ve got Las Vegas getting the narrow win.

WNBA Betting Pick: Las Vegas 80 Atlanta 74

Washington Mystics (1-1) at New York Liberty (0-2)

  • When: Friday, June 7 at 7:30 PM ET
  • Where: Westchester County Center, White Plains, NY

Analysis: Washington absolutely throttled Atlanta 96-75 on Saturday as all-star forward Elena Delle Donne scored 18 points in her season debut to go along with a team-high 21 points from Ariel Atkins. New York was on the wrong end of a humbling 92-77 smackdown loss against Indiana on Saturday as the Liberty fell for the 15th straight game. Future Hall of Famer, Tina Charles, scored 15 points to move into 15th place on the WNBA’s career scoring list.

Prediction

With Elena Delle Donne back and Washington firing on all cylinders the last time out and New York mired in a complete mess of a quagmire, the Mystics are the super easy pick in this contest. Don’t think twice about this one WNBA betting buffs, the Mystics will win going away.

WNBA Betting Pick: Washington 91 New York 77
