Top MLB Matches to Bet On: Astros v Nationals, Angels v A’s, Brewers v Marlins

Major League Baseball’s 2022 regular season is off to a flying start, with unsuspecting and regular challengers alike mixing it up atop the league ladders.

The Washington Nationals shocked the New York Mets with an 8-3 victory in their ongoing series, while the Miami Marlins trounced the Arizona Diamondbacks via an eight-run ninth inning.

With the workweek quickly becoming a thing of the past, here are the best games to bet on this weekend so you can place your bets against their MLB Odds.

Top MLB Games this Weekend | May 13th Edition

Houston Astros vs Washington Nationals (Saturday)

The Astros started off their season a little wobbly but have since rebounded and looked like their usual, perennial World Series-contending selves.

The Astros are 19-11 at the time of publication and have been getting it done both in the box and on the mound, both of which are why they have been so highly favored in recent years; Michael Brantley has stabilized the offense thus far, but once players such as Jose Altuve truly start firing, this team will be as dangerous as ever and figures to make more moves at the trade deadline. Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 3.38 ERA) will get the start for the visiting Astros.

The Nationals looked good in their win against the Mets but are still just 11-21 and 4-12 at home thus far. Their offense is almost totally static, especially with MVP-level talent Juan Soto playing at a decent but not all-world level and without former star Trea Turner, who was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.

Erick Fedde (2-2, 3.90 ERA) will have to match Odorizzi on the mound, and to his credit, he has been decent to start his campaign.

Los Angeles Angels vs Oakland Athletics +1.5 (Saturday)

Now, odds have not yet been released for this upcoming game, but it is expected that the Angels will be favored because of their superior record.

L.A. will also have the best player on the field, Mike Trout, who has been playing out of his mind in recent weeks— if he is on his game, there is nothing the Athletics can do to slow him down, which is a little scary.

However, the big advantage for the A’s, aside from them being at home, is they have Paul Blackburn, who has also had an extraordinary start to his year.

The 28-year-old is 4-0 with a 1.74 ERA to show for it, whereas his counterpart on the rubber, Michael Lorenzen, is 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA; Oakland has looked a little better lately, winning consecutive games and three of four as of mid-day Thursday, so giving them the runline would not be a bad idea.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Miami Marlins (Sunday)

The Brewers have been better than the Marlins and have a real advantage on the mound with Brandon Woodruff, although he has not had a memorable first few starts.

Milwaukee also has a winning record on the road compared to Miami’s home losing record, and they will be eager to bounce back from a few losses.

The Marlins are still multiple pieces away from competing for a division title; the strong point of their team is their pitching, but their starter, Elieser Hernandez (2-2, 6.37 ERA), is one of the worst in their rotation, giving the advantage to Milwaukee once again.
