Last Season

The Suns won last year’s regular season series, 2-1, their first season series win vs. the Warriors since a 4-0 sweep in 2010-11. The Suns’ 142 wins against the Warriors are their most against any franchise. All time at home in this series, Phoenix leads 91-37.

Why Bet on Golden State?

The Warriors possess the best record in the NBA at 18-2 and have a 7-1 road record (winning the last four). Golden State remains the only team this season to score at least 100 points in every game.

Golden State won its seventh straight game Sunday, 105-90 at the Clippers. Stephen Curry finished with 33 points, five rebounds, six assists and six steals. The Clippers did a good job of defending Curry for the first two quarters as he went into the halftime break shooting 4-of-11 from the field. After going 3-of-5 in the third Curry was at his best in the fourth, making 5-of-6 shots before exiting with just over two minutes remaining. Curry has made at least six 3-pointers in seven games this month (nine or more in four).

Otto Porter recorded his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Andre Iguodala (knee) being sidelined has freed up minutes for Porter, and the veteran forward has taken advantage. Jordan Poole had 17 points in the win. Poole, like many of his teammates, was relatively quiet during the first half. That seemed to change once he was taunted by Isaiah Hartenstein following a blocked shot with 2:35 remaining in the third quarter. Hartenstein was hit with a technical, and Poole took over from there. Beginning with the made free throw, Poole scored 13 of Golden State’s final 15 points of the period

Golden State ranks second in the NBA in scoring (114.0 ppg), first in assists (29.3 apg), first in fast-break points (17.2), first in opponent scoring (100.4 ppg) and first in opponent field goal percentage (.419). The Warriors rank fifth in rebounding (47.1 rpg), second in field goal percentage (.479), second in steals (10.05 spg), and fourth in opponent 3-point field goal percentage (.321).

Among the league leaders, Curry is tied for first with Kevin Durant in scoring (28.6 ppg), first in 3-pointers made (105), first in free throw percentage (.942) and tied ninth in steals (1.84 spg); Draymond Green is ranked ninth in assists (7.8 apg); Poole is ranked fifth in free throw percentage (.918)

Why Bet on Phoenix?

This matchup marks the first time in NBA history that two teams from the same division with winning percentages of at least .850 will play each other after 20 games of the season.

“I’m looking forward to it, man,” Suns star Devin Booker said. “Obviously not a make it or break-it game, not a playoff game, but we know it’s going to be high-energy, two best records in the NBA. It’s going to a high-intensity, fun game.”

The Suns won their 16th straight game – one shy of the franchise record, 113-107 in Brooklyn on Saturday. Phoenix impressively overwhelmed the Eastern Conference leaders early, never trailing and leading by as much as 22. The reigning Western Conference champions haven’t lost in a month since Sacramento dropped them to 1-3.

Chris Paul put up 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting and added eight rebounds and five assists vs. Brooklyn. Over Paul’s last six games, he was averaging 10.7 assists per game and had tallied double-digit assists in five of those six games. Paul didn’t get to 10 assists on Saturday, but he had his highest-scoring game of the stretch. Paul became becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 20,000 points, 10,000 assists and 5,000 rebounds.

Devin Booker scored 30 points in the win. Phoenix jumped out to a 20-point lead before Brooklyn used a 13-0 run in the second quarter to get back into the game. A big reason for this hot start was Booker who had a marvelous first quarter scoring 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Booker has now scored at least 30 in three straight games.

The Suns have made at least one three-point field goal in 1,387 consecutive regular season games, which is currently the longest active streak in the NBA, and an NBA record for most consecutive games with a three-point field goal. The streak, which began on March 29, 2004, is 13 games longer than second place (1,374-sraight games by Golden State, which is also still active).
